Assistant Fashion Designer

Job Summary

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and commercially driven Assistant Manager – Fashion Design to lead and support the fashion design function. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fashion trends, modest wear, fabric selection, garment construction, and retail market requirements.

The role involves overseeing the design development process, ensuring timely collection launches, maintaining design quality, and coordinating with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to bring concepts to life.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Collection Development

• Lead and supervise the development of seasonal collections and new product designs.
• Research current fashion trends, market demands, colors, silhouettes, and competitor collections.
• Develop innovative and commercially viable designs aligned with the brand's identity and modest fashion positioning.
• Review and approve design concepts, sketches, mood boards, and design presentations.
• Ensure consistency in design aesthetics, quality, and brand standards.

2. Team Management & Supervision

• Supervise and guide the fashion design team, ensuring effective task allocation and timely deliverables.
• Review team performance, provide creative direction, and ensure adherence to design timelines.
• Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure accountability and coordination within the design department.

3. Product Development & Execution

• Oversee the complete product development cycle, from initial concepts to final samples.
• Coordinate fabric selection, trims, embellishments, color palettes, and garment specifications.
• Review samples, fittings, measurements, and finishing details to ensure design accuracy.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and tech packs.
• Coordinate with production and merchandising teams to resolve design and product development issues.

4. Market Research & Brand Development

• Monitor local and international fashion trends and emerging styles.
• Analyze customer preferences, sales performance, and market feedback to identify design opportunities.
• Develop designs that balance creativity, functionality, quality, and commercial viability.
• Contribute innovative ideas for new collections and product categories.

5. Coordination & Reporting

• Work closely with merchandising, sourcing, production, and marketing teams.
• Ensure timely completion of collections as per agreed launch calendars.
• Monitor design development timelines and provide regular progress updates to management.
• Maintain proper records of designs, samples, fabric details, and collection developments.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
• Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in the fashion or apparel industry.
• Previous experience in team supervision or design coordination.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, patterns, and product development.
• Experience in women's fashion and modest wear will be preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or other relevant design software.

Location: Karachi Nazimabad S.I.T.E Area.

Working Days: Monday - Friday (9:30am - 6:00pm)
