Job Overview:

The Director of Engineering is a senior technology leader at CureMD, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This role owns the strategy, execution, and health of CureMD's engineering organization spanning Software Development, Databases, DevOps/Infrastructure, Application Security, and VoIP/Telephony. The Director partners closely with the CIO and cross-functional leadership to translate business and product priorities into scalable, secure, and reliable technology platforms, while building and mentoring a high-performing multi-disciplinary engineering organization. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both deep technical credibility and strong people and program management skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the technology strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Development, Database, DevOps, Security, and VoIP functions, ensuring alignment with CureMD's product and business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multi-disciplinary engineering organization of managers, architects, and engineers, building a strong bench of technical leadership and a healthy engineering culture.
  • Provide architectural direction and hands-on technical guidance across the ASP.NET/.NET technology stack, ensuring applications are scalable, maintainable, secure, and performant.
  • Own end-to-end software delivery, partnering with Product and QA to drive predictable release cadence, code quality, and engineering best practices (code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing).
  • Oversee database architecture, performance, availability, and disaster recovery strategies across production and non-production environments (SQL Server and related platforms).
  • Drive DevOps maturity — CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, containerization, environment management, and release engineering — to increase deployment speed and reliability.
  • Provide technical oversight of the VoIP/telephony function, ensuring alignment with the broader engineering roadmap, security standards, and enterprise architecture.
  • Define and track engineering KPIs (velocity, quality, uptime, MTTR, security posture) and report progress, risks, and recommendations to the CIO and senior leadership.
  • Drive project and program management discipline across engineering initiatives, ensuring scope, timelines, and dependencies are actively managed and communicated.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, incident response, and post-mortem reviews for major production issues, driving a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and lead adoption of new technologies, tools, and engineering practices (including AI-assisted development and automation) to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Partner with HR on hiring, performance management, career development, and succession planning for the engineering organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (BSCS) or a related field is required; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in software engineering, including at least 6-8 years in senior engineering leadership roles managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of the ASP.NET/.NET technology stack, enterprise application architecture, and modern software design patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or closely partnering across Database engineering, DevOps/Infrastructure, and Application/Information Security functions.
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), containerization, and CI/CD pipeline design.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data-security/compliance requirements; Healthcare IT / EHR industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven project and program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong track record of building, scaling, and retaining high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to translate technical strategy into business terms for the CIO and senior leadership.
  • Prior exposure to VoIP/telephony or unified communications platforms is a plus, but not required.

  • Compensation and Benefits:

    Financial:

    • Competitive salary and bi-annual bonus.
    • Fast track and uncapped career growth for high performers.
