Head of AI and Computer Vision

JBS AI is the artificial intelligence and custom software data division of JBS, building enterprise-grade computer vision, automation, and AI-agent solutions for clients across multiple regions.

Role Overview:

This role owns end-to-end delivery across the JBS AI project portfolio, taking projects from signed scope through to shipped, on-time, client-accepted outcomes. As technical lead, they sit above the development team, making architecture decisions, setting code and quality standards, and mentoring engineers. They also serve as the feasibility gate before any deal is sold, reviewing scope, validating effort estimates and timelines, and pushing back on unrealistic commitments before they reach the client.

Job Responsibilities:

• Own technical delivery across all live JBS AI projects, ensuring projects ship on time and meet client acceptance criteria
• Act as technical lead for the development team: make architecture decisions, set coding and quality standards, and mentor engineers.
• Stay hands-on enough to step into at-risk projects when needed, without needing to write the bulk of the code
• Review project scope and sign off on effort estimates and timelines before proposals go out to clients
• Push back on unrealistic scope to prevent over-commitment
• Hold the technical relationship with clients: lead delivery updates, manage expectations, and navigate crucial conversations (pricing, commercial terms, and renewals remain with the BU Head)
• Allocate engineering resources across live projects and flag early when a new deal cannot be adequately staffed
• Be accountable for on-time delivery, estimate accuracy, scope quality control, client satisfaction, and team performance/retention
  
  
  

Skills:

• Strong working knowledge across the broader AI/ML space, data projects, classical ML, and LLM-based work, sufficient to scope, estimate, evaluate, and direct a team on these, even without hands-on build experience in each
• Proven ability to make architecture decisions and set code/quality standards for a development team
• Strong client-facing communication skills
• Resource allocation and delivery management across multiple concurrent projects
• Hands-on technical ability to step into at-risk projects when needed
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of experience, including at least two enterprise computer vision systems taken to full production (real deployments with real users at scale, edge, NVR, or on-prem); proofs-of-concept or research demos do not qualify
• Prior experience leading an engineering team of roughly 4–6+ people, with verifiable delivery results
• Demonstrated experience operating in a lean setup, leading day-to-day while willing to get hands-on when a delivery is at risk
