Sky47 is looking for highly skilled and technically proficient “Manager Storage and Backup” to join our expanding team. The Manager – Backup & Storage will be responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise-grade backup strategies across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments. The role requires deep expertise in enterprise backup platforms and workable knowledge of storage technologies, with hands-on proficiency in policy enforcement, disaster recovery, and data lifecycle management. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end backup lifecycle including job scheduling, retention, and SLA adherence.
• Lead design and deployment of enterprise backup tools across hybrid environments.
•  Configure multi-tier storage for backups (dedupe appliances, tape, object).
•  Ensure consistent application-aware backups for databases and enterprise apps.
• Conduct periodic recovery testing (granular, bare-metal, full workload).
•  Implement immutable and air-gapped backup repositories.
•  Manage replication to DR sites and archival to tape/cloud cold storage.
•  Automate reporting, alerting, and compliance dashboards.
• Troubleshoot job failures, deduplication anomalies, and restore delays.
•  Liaise with vendors for support, licensing, and upgrades of backup systems.Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, GDPR).
• Maintain strong documentation standards, including architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and incident response playbooks.
• Conduct regular recovery drills to validate RPO/RTO commitments and ensure operational readiness.
• Leverage automation and orchestration tools for backup job scheduling, monitoring, and reporting.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to storage/backup teams, ensuring upskilling on emerging platforms and technologies.
•  Collaborate with IT, security, and cloud teams to align storage and backup services with enterprise architecture and digital transformation goals.

What We’re Looking For:

 10–15 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure operations, administration, and enterprise data center environments.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

Experience

• Solid knowledge of backup policies, retention compliance, deduplication, and tiered backup storage.
• Strong background in backup policy design (full, incremental, synthetic, CDP) and SLA management.
• Knowledge of application-consistent backups (Exchange, SQL, Oracle, SAP HANA) and containerized backup for Kubernetes/OpenShift and virtualization-aware protection (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix).
• Proficiency in disaster recovery planning, replication (synchronous/asynchronous), and snapshot management.
•  Experienced in enterprise backup and restoration operations, including policy design, job troubleshooting, and end-to-end recovery validation across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
•  Workable knowledge of SAN fabric management (Brocade, Cisco MDS) and multipathing configurations.
• Knowledge of software-defined storage (VMware vSAN, Nutanix Files/Objects) and HCI deployments.
• Understanding of data security, encryption at rest/in-transit, WORM (Write Once Read Many), and compliance requirements (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001).
• Certifications such as Veeam VMCE, Commvault Certified Engineer, Veritas VCS preferred.
