MENA Tax Delivery - Indirect Tax (IDT), Consultant/Senior Consultant

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join our Indirect Tax team where you will advise clients on VAT treatment of new and complex transactions and help resolve classification or other disputes and issues with the authorities.

Your Key Responsibilities

You are expected to work effectively as a member of a regional network of professional advisors, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress. You will also collaborate with a team of VAT professionals to combine diverse cross-border transaction experience with local tax knowledge across a broad spectrum of industries in both an outbound and in-bound investment capacity. You will be assisting in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties and maintaining productive working relationships with them

You will also be expected to build a deep understanding of the Customs Law and its practical application across countries, especially on topics such as regional free trade agreements and key customs concepts such as valuation, classification, and origin.

Skills And Attributes For Success

You should be able to build strong client relationships & excellently communicate in a range of situations in both written and oral English. You should also be able to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to escalate issues upwards. You are expected to be a client focused and commercially aware team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. You must also possess project management skills, plan and prioritise work, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A relevant professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ADIT or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience as an Indirect Tax professional.
• Good working knowledge of customs advisory and VAT / GST fundamentals.
• Strong communication skills in English.
  
  

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Experience working for a Big 4 accounting firm or other service providers such as law firms.
• Knowledge of MENA VAT and tax rules & regulations and how they differ across countries.
  
  

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with tax technology tools (e.g., Power BI, ONESOURCE, Vertex, Alteryx).
• Exposure to tax process automation and data analytics.
• Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives in a tax or finance environment.
