Job Description: Sales Engineer

SparkTrack | Hybrid role, starting work from home

Position Summary: SparkTrack is looking for a Sales Engineer who can support the sales process with strong product knowledge, technical understanding, customer discovery, solution design, demos, and product testing. This role is ideal for someone who can speak confidently with customers, understand their operational and technical needs, and help show how SparkTrack can fit into their business. This is a hybrid position and will start as work from home. As the team grows, the role may include occasional in-person meetings, technical discovery sessions, customer demos, implementation workshops, or internal product planning sessions.

About SparkTrack: SparkTrack is a study abroad CRM and student management platform built for education agencies and overseas education consultants. It helps agencies run their full student journey in one place, from first enquiry to enrolled student. The platform supports lead capture from Facebook Lead Ads, website forms, public forms, and secure webhooks. It also includes custom application pipelines, student records, document and compliance checklists, task and follow-up workflows, branch and role management, dashboards and reporting, student portals, and sub-agent portals.

SparkTrack is built for agencies that need more than a generic CRM. It is designed around admissions workflows, counsellor teams, student documents, visa timelines, multi-branch operations, and the need to respond quickly to every enquiry.

Role Purpose The Sales Engineer will help bridge the gap between customer requirements and SparkTrack's product capabilities. This person will support the sales team in technical and product-led conversations, prepare tailored demos, answer deeper product and integration questions, and help validate that customer workflows can be supported by SparkTrack.

The role also supports product quality by testing customer workflows, validating new features, identifying gaps, and giving structured feedback to product and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop deep knowledge of SparkTrack's features, workflows, architecture, customer use cases, and product roadmap.
  • Support sales calls, discovery sessions, demos, and technical follow-ups.
  • Understand each customer's current process, including lead sources, counsellor workflows, application stages, document requirements, branch structure, reporting needs, and integration expectations.
  • Translate customer requirements into SparkTrack workflows, demo scenarios, configuration notes, and implementation recommendations.
  • Prepare tailored demos using relevant sample data, pipelines, forms, reports, portals, and automation scenarios.
  • Answer product, workflow, integration, data, security, and configuration questions during the sales process.
  • Explain technical topics in simple business language for agency owners and operations teams.
  • Support proof-of-concept, pilot, and trial conversations where needed.
  • Identify technical or workflow risks before commitments are made to customers.
  • Work with product and engineering to clarify feasibility, limitations, customer gaps, and requested improvements.
  • Test new features and bug fixes, especially around customer-facing workflows, integrations, forms, pipelines, permissions, portals, and reporting.
  • Create test cases based on sales scenarios, customer requirements, and implementation risks.
  • Document demo scripts, technical FAQs, implementation notes, and internal sales enablement material.
  • Help the sales team qualify when a customer is a good fit for SparkTrack and when custom work or Enterprise handling is required.

Required Skills And Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in sales engineering, solutions consulting, implementation, technical support, product operations, QA, business analysis, or SaaS pre-sales.
  • Strong ability to understand customer workflows and translate them into software configuration or solution design.
  • Comfortable leading or supporting live product demos.
  • Strong communication skills with both business and technical audiences.
  • Ability to explain integrations, forms, workflows, permissions, reporting, and data flow at a practical level.
  • Basic understanding of APIs, webhooks, CRM systems, data imports, user roles, and SaaS platforms.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable testing product flows and writing clear bug reports or test scenarios.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CRMs, education technology, student management systems, admissions software, visa/application workflows, or B2B SaaS.
  • Experience with tools such as Postman, Zapier, Make, n8n, Google Sheets, Notion, Jira, Linear, HubSpot, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with implementation planning, customer onboarding, data migration, or workflow mapping.
  • Ability to read basic technical documentation and coordinate with engineers on feasibility.
  • Understanding of data security, access control, audit logs, and multi-tenant SaaS concepts is a plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate is customer-facing, technically curious, structured, and commercially aware. They should be able to understand what a customer is trying to achieve, explain how SparkTrack can support it, and know when to raise risks or ask engineering for clarification. They do not need to be a software developer, but they should be comfortable around technical concepts and able to learn product behavior in detail.

Success Metrics

  • Quality and effectiveness of technical and product demos.
  • Sales team confidence in handling product and technical questions.
  • Accuracy of customer requirement mapping and feasibility notes.
  • Quality of demo environments, proof-of-concept flows, and implementation handoff notes.
  • Quality and usefulness of test cases, bug reports, and product feedback.
  • Reduction in sales-stage confusion, over-promising, and implementation surprises.
  • Contribution to sales enablement, technical FAQs, and customer-facing product clarity.

Work Arrangement

  • Position type: Full-time.
  • Work model: Hybrid.
  • Initial setup: Work from home.
  • Future expectations: Occasional in-person meetings, demos, technical workshops, customer trainings, or team sessions as required.
