Job Description: Senior FEA Engineer (HyperMesh) - HVAC Domain
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (FEA) with strong expertise in HyperMesh and finite element analysis to support design validation and optimization of HVAC systems and components. The candidate will play a key role in structural, thermal, and vibration analysis of HVAC products.
Key Responsibilities
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on HVAC components such as:
Air handling units (AHU)
Fans, blowers, ducts
Heat exchangers, coils
Sheet metal enclosures and structural frames
Develop and validate FE models using HyperMesh for:
Static structural analysis
Modal and harmonic analysis
Fatigue and durability assessments
Thermal and coupled field simulations
Conduct mesh generation, cleanup, and quality checks as per industry standards
Define boundary conditions, load cases, and constraints based on real-life operating conditions
Work with solvers like OptiStruct / ANSYS / Abaqus / Nastran
Perform design optimization and weight reduction studies
Interpret results and provide design recommendations for performance improvement
Correlate simulation results with test data (EER, vibration, thermal performance)
Support DFM/DFA considerations in HVAC product development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
Design engineering
Testing & validation
Manufacturing
Technical Skills Required
Strong hands-on experience in:
HyperMesh (mandatory)
FEA solvers: OptiStruct / ANSYS / Abaqus / Nastran
Expertise in:
Meshing techniques (2D/3D, shell, tetra, hex)
Material modeling (metals, plastics, insulation materials)
Contact definitions, nonlinear analysis
Good understanding of:
HVAC systems behavior (airflow, thermal loads, vibration sources)
Sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and weld modeling
Exposure to:
Thermal analysis of HVAC units
CFD tools (optional: Fluent, Star-CCM+)
Design tools such as Creo / SolidWorks
Experience & Qualification
BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years of experience in FEA with at least 5+ years in HyperMesh
Experience in HVAC or similar thermal-mechanical products is highly preferred
