Division Overview

Optiviq's OptiVision suite, with over 800 applications, streamline production planning, order fulfillment, and logistics management. Widely used across pulp and paper mills in Canada, Europe, India, Mexico, South America, and the U.S., the platform enhances operational efficiency and provides a competitive advantage to organizations across the industry.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Senior Software Developer to work on mission-critical, large-scale applications. This role requires exceptional problem-solving, strong debugging skills, proactive requirement clarification, and the ability to review and validate code from any development approach or tool. The ideal candidate will complement our stack with broader experience and deliver immediate value.

Work arrangement: On-site in Karachi — 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and ship scalable, high‑quality software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the stack.
  • Clarify ambiguous requirements and convert them into actionable technical tasks.
  • Review and validate code for correctness, performance, security, and maintainability (including tool‑assisted output).
  • Collaborate with QA, product, customer support, and offshore partners.
  • Apply SOLID, OOP, and proven design patterns to produce clean, maintainable code.
  • Contribute to architecture and long‑term technical planning.
  • Continuously improve development workflows, tooling, and processes.
  • Work with configurable background services enabling inter‑app messaging (events/triggers).
  • Support our internal no-code IDE that Application Support Team uses to add/extend applications.
  • Support application distribution via InstallShield and/or other tools.

Core Technologies

  • .NET, C#, Visual Studio (primary application stack).
  • ASP.NET, SignalR, WebSockets, .NET Remoting.
  • SQL Server (primary); Oracle exposure/support as secondary.
  • JavaScript & TypeScript (solid experience; modern frameworks/tooling).
  • RESTful APIs; IIS/Kestrel.
  • Frontend basics: HTML, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap (for maintaining/extending existing UI).
  • CI/CD pipelines and build/release practices.

Nice to Have / Bonus

  • Familiarity with building Azure DevOps pipelines and/or build automation.
  • Familiarity with Intel Fortran.
  • Python for selected components and automation.
  • Perl scripting — optional and learnable on the job (not required).
  • General messaging concepts (RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus) exposure only.
  • C++ (various flavors) for selected modules/integrations.
  • Azure services and related cloud tooling.
  • NoSQL database exposure.
  • Docker/Kubernetes (we currently distribute via InstallShield).

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Solid experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, including modern frameworks/tooling.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving ability to analyze, isolate, and resolve complex issues.
  • High competence in reviewing and validating code from any development approach.
  • Proactive communicator who clarifies requirements early.
  • Strong experience with relational databases (SQL Server primary; Oracle secondary).
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, OOP, SOLID, and design patterns.
