Pak-Arab Refinery Limited Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO), an integrated energy conglomerate, is a Joint Venture between Pakistan and Emirate of Abu Dhabi. PARCO owns and operates Pakistan’s most modern refinery, over 2,000 kms of pipeline network, strategic storage facilities and marketing operations. The Company has Joint Ventures with renowned international companies and is continually following an aggressive growth strategy with planned expansions, acquisitions, and penetration into new markets.

PARCO is seeking applications for the position of Shift Technologist.

Shift Technologist is responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pumping stations and oil terminal facilities through continuous monitoring of HMI/SCADA systems, field inspections, coordination with maintenance and engineering teams, and strict compliance with SOPs, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Control Room Activities:

  • Monitor HMI/SCADA and control panels to ensure operating parameters remain within normal limits.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and warning signals by stopping/starting pumps, changing pumps, performing tank changeovers, adjusting flow rates, and optimizing operating parameters.
  • Analyse alarms thoroughly and take corrective actions in coordination with the Operations Engineer / Station In charge.
  • Handle mainline pumping start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency situations in accordance with approved procedures.

Operational Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate operation logbooks and log all shift activities.
  • Prepare and update operational reports including shutdowns, power failures (KE/WAPDA), pump running hours, loss/gain sheets, tanker demurrage monitoring, and key management records.
  • Develop and maintain operational data in SAP and Excel with high accuracy and traceability.

Field Operations & Safety

  • Conduct regular plant area rounds to identify abnormalities, equipment issues, and unsafe conditions.
  • Identify environmental and occupational health hazards, implement controls, and follow up for permanent corrective actions.
  • Ensure security overrides/bypasses are applied strictly as per approved procedures and for the minimum required duration.

Process & Technical Support

  • Review and verify Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Cause & Effect charts, interlocks, and confirm alignment with field conditions.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and suggest modifications or revamping requirements to the Operations Engineer / Station In charge.
  • Identify malfunctioning instruments or equipment and report promptly for corrective action.

Maintenance Coordination

  • Review plant maintenance requirements and raise notifications in SAP.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, HSE, and other departments to ensure timely execution of field work.
  • Keep Station In charge, Operations Engineer, MCC, and WOP MCC fully informed about operational and maintenance activities.

Crude Handling & Logistics

  • Supervise crude oil unloading from tank lorries, ensuring quality checks, compliance, and safe decanting operations.
  • Manage decanting activities, weighbridge operations, lab sampling, and physical measurements (dip, temperature, density, water content).
  • Ensure accurate recording of all operational and measurement data in SAP, Excel, and logbooks.

DRA Injection Operations

  • Ensure DRA injection pumps are operationally ready at all times.
  • Closely monitor DRA chemical/product consumption and maintain a minimum stock level of 1,000 gallons at applicable stations.

Permit To Work (PTW) & SOP Compliance

  • Issue Permit to Work (PTW) after verifying compliance with all procedural and safety requirements.
  • Ensure implementation and availability of approved SOPs and actively participate in SOP training programs.

Qualification

DAE (Chemical / Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics / Petroleum)

Experience

Up to 12 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Fertilizer Sector.

Location:

Pumping Station I, Korangi Karachi.
