Thomson Gray has made a donation to The Polar Academy charity, supporting young people to build confidence and resilience through life-changing Arctic expeditions.
Many of our team donate a small amount from their salary each month, a total sum which the company matches at year end, before we collectively choose a charity to support. Originally inspired by a “Dress Down Friday” initiative, this staff-led effort has grown into a meaningful annual contribution.
This year, we were proud to donate £2,550, raised by our staff, to The Polar Academy. Supporting what founder Craig Mathieson calls the “invisible children,” the charity works with young people who may lack confidence or feel overlooked, often facing challenges such as bullying, bereavement, or difficult home lives. Through a powerful programme of training and an Arctic expedition, participants build resilience, self-belief, and life skills, returning as confident role models who inspire others.
We’re delighted to play a small part in supporting such an incredible organisation and remain committed to supporting the communities which we work in and that mean something to our team.
The Polar Academy often throw fundraising events, one of which senior project manager Michelle can be seen here, climbing the mast at The Discovery in Dundee.
