We are looking for a motivated Trainee Accountant to join our team and support Canadian corporate and personal tax filings, GST/HST, payroll, and day-to-day bookkeeping. We are looking for a motivated Trainee Accountant to join our team and support Canadian corporate and personal tax filings, GST/HST, payroll, and day-to-day bookkeeping. This is a great opportunity to build your career in Canadian accounting and tax under the guidance of experienced senior accountants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing T2 (corporate) and T1 (personal) tax returns under supervision
- Help prepare and file GST/HST returns and payroll remittances
- Maintain bookkeeping records, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and basic financial reports
- Support the team in gathering information and drafting responses to CRA notices
- Organize client files and working papers, and ensure documentation is complete and accurate
- Learn and contribute to basic tax planning and year-end processes
- 1-2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- ACCA Affiliate/Part qualified
- Working knowledge of Canadian tax basics (T2, T1, GST/HST, payroll)
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks or Xero
- Basic Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Clear communication and a willingness to learn
- Exposure to CaseWare or tax software (e.g., TaxPrep, TurboTax, or similar)
- Enrolled in or interested in pursuing a CPA, CGA, or CMA designation
