Job Purpose

The person is responsible for managing Safety, Health & Environment improvement activities to achieve excellence at the site level. Working under the guidance of the site SHE Manager, she/he will develop and implement the local SHE Strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable SHE excellence. This involves reducing injuries, illnesses, and environmental impact as measured in the core KPIs.

The AM SHE Coordinator is the site’s leading practitioner for SHE improvement activities. This includes collaborating with site Supply Chain teams to identify and prioritize SHE interventions, providing training and coaching on SHE best practices, and ensuring compliance with SHE regulations. The AM SHE Coordinator provides teaching, coaching, and mentoring on SHE issues for all leaders and operators within the site.

What Will Your Main Responsibilities Be

  • SHE Strategy Deployment – Deploy the global/cluster SHE strategy, policy, and standards in the site to achieve excellent sustainable results. Inculcate the SHE philosophy of reducing injuries, illnesses, and environmental impact across all site personnel.
  • Team Management – Manage the SHE teams responsible for delivering Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment results. Teach, coach, and mentor teams to utilize SHE tools and practices.
  • Risk Assessment – Drive safety and environment risk assessments and develop/implement appropriate controls. Ensure that teams adhere to the overall SHE Pillar Plan.
  • SHE Pillar Leadership – Lead the SHE Pillar in accordance with ManEx. Conduct SHE assessments with teams to assist them in driving down risks and improving safety and environmental performance.
  • BBS Program Deployment – Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever BBS Program and support its deployment at the site. Lead and facilitate SHE workshops focusing on priority risks.
  • Senior Management Influence – Influence senior management and drive safety and environmental leadership through line management. Support the development of local SHE training material, drawing on global material wherever possible.
  • Legal Compliance – Monitor site legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards. Provide advice on national SHE legislation requirements and implement relevant procedures and policies.
  • Occupational Health Collaboration – Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks that may lead to occupational ill health.
  • Crisis and Safety Committees – Assist the site leader in developing and leading internal crisis committees and safety committees. Support the site leader in leading serious incident investigations and analysis.
  • Incident Investigation – Advise line management in all accident/incident investigations. Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, and safe behavior observations.
  • Personal Leadership – Lead SHE improvement using a high level of SHE knowledge, clear communication, and logical thinking. Ensure compliance with the company’s corporate values.

What You Need To Succeed

Experience & Qualifications

  • University degree in Science or Engineering with 2-5 years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and organizational awareness

Skills

  • Problem solver with the ability to work in cross functional teams.
  • Advanced degree in Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Sustainability, preferred.
  • Experience in Supply Chain operations.
  • Manufacturing and/or Engineering experience.
  • Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management.
