Demand Planner
About the Role!
A Demand Planner analyses customer demand to develop and fine tune forecasts. His responsibilities include reviewing sales history, financial, trade and marketing strategies the company has used to promote products and stimulate growth and, ultimately, evaluating their effectiveness.
Demand planner develops effective forecast models based on industry trends and demand patterns and subsequently implements solutions to improve the accuracy of demand forecasting. A successful demand planner needs to be highly analytical with in-depth knowledge of advanced mathematical and forecasting policies. In addition, strong communication and stakeholder engagement are critical to success, which includes the ability to effectively partner and collaborate with those leading and working on the commercial side of the business i.e. sales, marketing, advertising, merchandising and related.
As it relates to a company’s Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) or Integrated Business Planning (IBP), demand planning plays a key role in these more advanced enterprise-wide planning processes, contributing product forecasts and demand consensus reviews with counterparts in Supply Chain / Operations, Finance, Sales & Marketing, and the Executive Leadership team.

About the Role!

Demand Planner Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts; Analyze historical sales data, market research, and customer insights to create accurate and actionable demand forecasts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams; Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment and effective management of inventory and production planning.
- Analyze market trends and customer behavior Stay up to date with market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activity to inform demand forecasts.
- Identify and mitigate risks; Identify potential risks and opportunities in demand forecasting and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Develop and maintain reporting and analytics; Create and maintain reports and analytics to track demand forecasting performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement and maintain demand planning processes; Develop, implement, and maintain demand planning processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicate demand forecasts and insights; Communicate demand forecasts and insights to stakeholders, including Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams.
- Master’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or other related fields.
- 3+ years of experience in demand planning plus overall experience of 6+ years including Supply Chain/ Sales/ Finance in MNC FMCG
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with demand planning software and tools
- Certification in demand planning or related field*: Preferred (e.g., Certified Demand Planner (CDP), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)
- Knowledge of statistical modelling and machine learning techniques*: (e.g., regression, time series analysis)
