They will be an advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing themselves with industry best practice and tooling used across their DevOps team. This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team and great passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model. This is part of our journey to increase our team presence and maturing our Azure Public Cloud Platform This is a key time in our journey, and we're seeking people who will enjoy the opportunity to shape the direction and success of our team as it continues to grow and lead the way on building cloud native solutions What will you spend your time doing? You’ll work in a hybrid role, primarily leading the team, mentoring, coaching and developing staff, while the other half of the role will be acting as a very hands-on Senior DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer. The team focuses on Site Reliability, Platform, DevOps and Systems engineering, to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems Our Engineers are passionate about ensuring the services, both internal and external have; extreme reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs, resiliency, architectural simplicity, as well as continually seeking to find improvements You will have the opportunity to deal with complex challenges, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity/forensic analysis and various system design strategies to tackle those challenges Much of your focus will be on optimising existing systems on Azure, building new Azure PaaS and IaaS solutions for services currently not running on Azure and eliminating manual work through automation wherever feasible. • Prior work experience in a technical leadership role.
• Career background as senior engineering level within the field of DevOps. Ideally you’ll come from a software engineering style background and have moved into a site reliability or DevOps role.
• Knowledge of Azure Cloud, or DevOps in another cloud platform.
• Very strong DevOps skill set with expertise in integration tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Nexus, and Git
• Kubernetes & Istio (AKS an advantage)
• Experience programming in at least two (but not all!) of the following languages: Java, Groovy, Scala, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript, PowerShell or Bash/Shell.
