Job Description:
Purpose of the Position:
- Act as think tank and provide all advisory services to RECTOR NUST for policy formulation and strategic & operational initiatives.
- The Director NIPS provides strategic leadership to foster collaboration between NIPS and key stakeholders, including national and international academic institutes, academia, policymakers, and corporate entities. This role is crucial in identifying and implementing initiatives that align with NIPS’s strategic objectives.
- The Director also shapes strategies to enhance NIPS’s visibility and influence at both national and global levels, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and values. The position is accountable for the successful management and evaluation of high-impact projects and programs.
Qualification & Experience:
Essential:
- MSc/MS/MPhil in the relevant discipline in Humanities or Social Sciences from a reputable local/foreign HEC recognized university.
- 5-10 years’ experience of multi-regional, multi domain knowledge diplomacy in a university based thinktank / research organization
- 5-10 years’ expertise in knowledge / research based domestic and international collaborations, stakeholders’ engagement and strategic partnership development.
Desirable:
- PhD in the relevant discipline in Humanities or Social Sciences from HEC recognized local/foreign university.
- An accomplished entrepreneur, former senior diplomat, civil servant, or former senior military officer.
- Additional teaching experience in a Higher Education Institution in Humanities or Social Sciences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Develop and execute NIPS’s strategic collaboration, networking, and communication frameworks in alignment with the NUST’s Vision, Mission, and Objectives.
- Lead strategic partnerships with global think tanks and organizations for academic research.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and nurture relationships with academia, policymakers, corporate leaders, and other key stakeholders to foster trust and cooperation.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including the Research Team and Expert Group, to drive NIPS’s contributions to national policy and development agendas.
- Operational Oversight
- Oversee and manage NIPS’s daily operations, ensuring smooth execution of projects and initiatives in consultation with the Project Manager.
- Establish, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure organizational and team success.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for seamless coordination and proactive communication.
- Program and Project Management:
- Design and lead new initiatives and programs that align with NIPS’s goals, ensuring their successful execution and evaluation.
- Coordinate strategic planning and budgeting efforts, contributing as a senior member of the management team.
- Outreach and Events:
- Organize and oversee events such as seminars, conferences, and policy discussions to promote NIPS’s mission and foster knowledge exchange.
- Develop and implement an effective communication strategy to engage stakeholders, including think tanks, policy centers, and the public.
- Team Development
- Lead team performance management, fostering a culture of open communication, collaboration, and accountability.
- Plan and execute training and career development initiatives to enhance team capabilities and professional growth.
- Innovation and Impact:
- Identify and pursue innovative solutions and programs that contribute to NIPS’s strategic objectives and nation-building mandate.
- Seek collaborations with professional bodies, scientific communities, and businesses to drive effective policymaking and innovation.
- Reporting and Policy Support:
- Regularly report progress to the DG NIPS and other senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Provide strategic and operational support to the DG NIPS, particularly for high-priority initiatives like the UEC node and other critical projects.

- Physically fit and capable of performing job-specific duties as required for the position.

- Last education certificate/degree must be attested/verified by HEC.
Candidates may be considered ineligible for the post due to any of the following reasons:
- 3rd Div in academic career / weak academic profile.
- NUST employees with less than one year of service with NUST and / or absence of NOC from Head of Institution.
- In process of pursuing a required degree.
- Medically unfit.
- Only selected candidates will be contacted and issued offer letter.
