Head of Security

Globe 24-7, in partnership with our client - a leading Global Tier 1 mining company - has an opportunity for 'the' Head of Security to join a large mining operation based overseas. This is an expat FIFO role from any global point of hire; and is a role that has high level visibility at the executive level.

The Role

The primary purpose of the Head of Security is to devise and direct the provision of security to the organisations activities at site, in the operating area, and throughout the country. Duties and responsibilities pertain to managing and implementing the security coordination in conjunction with internal staff, and security partners, including the military. The role is going to require a candidate who firmly possesses personal strengths pertaining to initiative, a strong work ethic and self-reliance.

• Direct, devise, and implement security operations in support of the companies mining activities in the country, including retrospective analysis, and future operational planning; via your direct reports;
• Be responsible for personnel security for all on duty personnel in the country;
• Direct, devise and execute security SOPs for all aspects of the company’s activities in the country;
• Devise the strategic direction of all company security operations in the country;
• Create and implement security plans through regular liaison with partners; via your direct reports;
• Lead, instigate and supervise the implementation of security training serials for all security providers on site including uniformed members; via your direct reports;
• Oversee the daily conduct of site security and routine deployments of all mobile security operations off site; via your direct reports;
• Manage all aspects related to physical security installations, such as maintenance, acquisition and financial implications; via your direct reports;
• Be a meaningful contributor to the safety culture at site and in the operating areas; via your direct reports;
• Collect and maintain data for the improvement of security operations and for preparation of periodical security reports, including leadership briefings; via your direct reports;
• Travel when required, for security visits, inspections, conferences and meetings;
  

The Requirements

• We are seeking, ideally, a military background, in order to successfully work with local military authorities / OR 'only' experience previously of working successfully with a local military authority
• The successful candidate will have, ideally, prior experience of working on large scale mining, or oil and gas, projects
• Ideally prior experience of working on large scale mining, or oil and gas, projects, at / from the construction phase
