Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to support GM Generation Revenue, Tariff & PPA in carrying out tasks related to Revenue Reporting for all KE Generation Plants and subsequent reporting requirements for internal stakeholders. Furhter, this role wilaso be responsible for Tariff indexations and relevant submissions. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the consolidation of Revenue Data from the respective managers at KE Plants, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout the process.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of the Data to identify anomalies, discrepancies, and performance trends.
  • Develop standardized processes and quality assurance measures to uphold Data integrity and reliability.
  • Analyze revenue Data to provide actionable insights for giving recommendations regarding strategic decision-making and process improvement to GM Generation Revenue, Tariff & PPA.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally to address Data-related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implementing modifications to the tariff calculation method issued by Regulator, and assist management in determining whether it is required for KE to approve or file for review
  • Once tariff is implemented, take forward tariff indexations and provide submissions for monthly, quarterly and periodic indexations to be filed to Regulator and implement the same

Education & Relevant Experience

CA with PQE upto 2 years / ACCA with 5 years of experience or a Bachelors’ Degree in Finance / Business Administration with atleast 4 year of work experience

1 Revenue Consolidation and Review

Data Consolidation

  • Oversee the consolidation of Hourly Revenue Data including Hourly Available Capacity, Generation, Despatch Instructions, Outages (Forced & Scheduled) & Plant wise Startup Details etc. (Cumulatively referred to as “Data”) from respective plant finance teams, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Co-ordinate & Liaison with various KE departments such as BF Enabling, Taxation & Insurance, Tariff Team for multiple inputs (including Plant Wise Actual Amounts for Insurance, Inventory Levels etc.) to be used in Revenue Models while ensuring overall reporting timelines.
  • Develop standardized processes and templates for Data collection and consolidation to streamline workflow.
  • Collaborate with plant teams & Manager Revenue (at Plant) to establish Data submission timelines and requirements.

Data Review

  • Review consolidated revenue Data for anomalies, discrepancies, and outliers, conducting thorough analysis to identify root causes.
  • Verify the integrity and accuracy of revenue Data by reconciling with financial statements and other sources.
  • Review & ensure alignment of the hourly revenue Data against technical data such as Plant Outage Logs, AMR Data Logs & Despatch Instructions from System Operator/ LDC.
  • Prepare summary reports and presentations highlighting key findings and insights from the Data review process along with recommendations for remedial measures.

Quality Assurance & Data Consistency

  • Develop and implement a standardized Data management system for consolidated, multi-plant Data.
  • Lead engagements with internal KE IT teams as well as external consultants, if required, for development of automated IT solutions for streamlining Data management including preparation, archiving and retrieval of Hourly Revenue Data.
  • Develop and implement Data governance protocols to ensure consistent Data collection and reporting practices across all plants.
  • Design and execute Data standardization processes to harmonize Data formats and definitions across plant Data sets.
  • Deliver targeted training to Manager Plant Finance on standardized Data collection procedures for multi-plant consistency.
  • Facilitate cross-plant knowledge sharing initiatives to identify and implement best practices in Data collection and quality control.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Data consistency documentation for ongoing reference and continuous improvement.

Performance Analysis

  • Analyze consolidated revenue Data to assess performance trends, identify areas for improvement, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to interpret revenue metrics and derive actionable insights.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports as requested by senior management or stakeholders.

Data Reporting

  • Ensure that monthly reporting activities are carried out within timelines including but not limited to:
  • Monthly Import Billing and related Accruals posting in SAP.
  • Monthly Generation Statements.
  • Plant Wise Annual Budget Reports for Revenue.
  • Regular Reporting for O&M Sharing Mechanism to Regulatory Team as per the Maintenance Cycles defined in the petition.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline Data consolidation and review processes, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Solicit feedback from plant teams and stakeholders to identify pain points and areas for optimization.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize Data collection, consolidation, and reporting tasks where feasible.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Communicate effectively with plant teams, finance departments, and other stakeholders to address Data-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Liaison with regulatory team to ensure all NEPRA related queries are addressed within stipulated timelines while maintaining highest standards of quality and effectiveness of underlying processes and Data.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Data-related issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination among plant teams to improve Data quality and consistency.

2 Tariff indexation

Tariff Analysis and Management

  • Analyze and monitor tariff structures and indexes: Utilize regulatory filings, government publications, and industry reports to understand the structure of electricity tariffs and the various indices that influence them (e.g., inflation rates, fuel costs). Employ financial modeling techniques to forecast potential cost impacts on the company based on anticipated changes in these indices.
  • Implementing modifications to the tariff calculation method issued by Regulator, and assist management in determining whether it is required for KE to approve or file for review
  • Ensure timely tariff indexations and provide submissions for monthly, quarterly and periodic indexations to be filed to Regulator and implement the same.
  • Track and forecast changes in relevant indices: Conduct regular reviews of economic indicators (i.e. Exchange Rate, Pak CPI & US CPI) and industry trends to predict potential fluctuations in key indices that impact tariffs. Develop internal reporting mechanisms to keep stakeholders informed of upcoming changes and their financial implications.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate cost pressures: Based on tariff analysis and forecasts, recommend strategies to hedge against rising costs. This may involve exploring alternative power purchase options, negotiating fixed pricing components in PPAs, or implementing fuel cost adjustment clauses.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies & technical consultants: Maintain communication with relevant regulatory bodies/ technical consultants to gain insights into upcoming tariff revisions and participate in consultations to advocate for policies that favor the company's long-term procurement strategy.

3 Stakeholder Management & Conflict Resolution

  • Facilitate conflict resolution and stakeholder management between the central revenue team and plant teams to ensure smooth Data consolidation and review processes.
  • Serve as a liaison between the central revenue team and plant managers, addressing conflicts, resolving issues, and promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Manager Revenue deputed at each plant, fostering positive relationships and alignment with central revenue objectives.
  • Collaborate with plant teams to address Data-related concerns and ensure compliance with standardized processes and quality assurance measures.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, trust, and accountability in dealing with conflicts and stakeholder interactions, facilitating constructive dialogue and problem-solving.

3 People Management

  • Leadership: Provide direction and guidance to team members, setting clear goals and expectations.
  • Resource Allocation: Optimize resource allocation to support team objectives and project deliverables.
  • Performance Management: Evaluate and enhance individual and team performance through feedback and coaching.
