Purpose

This position manages and controls the Civil Construction Site Operations of running projects; assists in review of project specification, design / drawings, codes and standards and bridges the gap between Top Rank & lower tier of civil section; Engages in project planning process with Project Development team; handle unexpected issues and delays, and solve problems that arise over the course of the project; implements KE standards related to Civil Works at all functional sites through our teams; Supervises the project and does regular follow ups to ensure efficiency; Communicates with internal and external stake holders regarding support development; Oversees project closure and end documentation; Identifies errors or problems at closure so that “lessons learnt” may be applied to future projects. These responsibilities are carried out WITH the objective to complete the construction projects on time and within the budget and to save the company revenue, enhance operational efficiency with provision of state of the art services to our teams WITHIN the limits of established company policies and procedures, allocated budgets, Construction codes like ASTM, ACI, UBC, AASHTO, departmental SOPs, HSE guidelines, industry best practices and directions/guidelines from Supervisor.

Education

  • BE Civil

Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge & ability to review grid designs
  • Good Knowledge of HSE standards like OSHA, EPA etc.
  • Good understanding of Civil Construction codes like ASTM, ACI, UBC, BS, AASHTO etc.
  • Familiar with structural designing software like Auto CAD, ETABS, & SAFE,
  • Good knowledge of computer software (MS office, MS Project)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 year’s related Civil experience of execution Grids / transmission line / industrial buildings, & pile foundations.

Area Of Responsibilities

Project Development & Planning (15%)

  • Interact with Project Development team and provides input in planning at the early stages of project; evaluates various eventualities in light of previous projects and suggests measures for effective mitigation of the same keeping in view varying scenarios.
  • Prepares bill of quantities for the desired scope.
  • Estimates site needs, develops and devises operating plan, performs resource planning of site team and shares the plan with supervisor.
  • Provide Civil related feedback for pre & post bid clarifications.

Project Execution (55%)

  • Receives project plan submitted by EPC contractor and clarifies ambiguities; Compares resource consumption with forecasts and highlights anomalies; Identifies reasons for anomalies and assists supervisor in taking steps for effective mitigation.
  • Reviews designs and drawings, method statements and Job Safety analysis submitted by the contractor time to time.
  • Assists Supervisor in awarding approvals in case of non-availability of Owner’s Consultant.
  • Ensures compliance with approved design to ensure project is on track.
  • Supervises and oversees the direction of the project, ensuring that the KE specifications & requirements are met, and reviews progress.
  • Makes safety inspections and ensuring construction and site safety.
  • Checks and accumulate site progress reports sent by site deputed sub-ordinates and communicates to supervisor.
  • Maintains quality control procedures and finds ways to prevent problems and to solve any that arise over the course of project.
  • Involves Higher Management if problem persists from the Contractors end.
  • Follows up regularly with relevant departments on project implementation; Monitors performance of contractors on daily, weekly & monthly basis.
  • Oversees the workings of the site deputed staff and ensures support to all site personnel.

Area of Responsibility Continued

Project Closure (20%)

  • Verifies project physically once It is officially closed; Checks for errors or omissions; identifies punch list items which the contractor has to complete.
  • Manages closure to ensure it is carried out efficiently; Monitors DLP to receive feedback.
  • Oversees end documentation process to ensure all project closure formalities are completed as per the contract conditions and departmental procedures.
  • Identifies errors or problems in project upon closure so that “lessons learnt” are incorporated into future projects and same could be forwarded to Planning section for necessary amendment in future projects.

People Management (10%)

  • Assists in identifying training requirements of the Staff; Contributes in performance management of direct reports; Manages development, career planning and engagement of subordinates in coordination with HR through supervisor.
  • Assists in handling administrative issues including recruitment, leaves, grievances and other issues; Provides guidance to sub-ordinates as and when required.
  • Creates team-spirit and ensures seamless interaction among team members; Ensures parity among subordinates with regards to learning and growth opportunities.
  • Creates a conducive working environment to build and sustain an engaged and committed team.
  • Conduct technical alignment sessions during the project phase for clarity of the scope and keep them on one page regarding solution of site issues.
