Purpose
Responsible for driving KE’s Content Strategy in collaboration with Manager Communications & Content Strategy, Director Communications, and Chief Marketing & Communication Officer. Evaluating the energy landscape of Pakistan and preparing analytical reports which identify bottlenecks, which can be used to develop content (print, electronic, social media, digital media) for external and internal consumption. Work with stakeholders including but not limited to print/electronic journalists/reporters as well as bloggers, influencers, and Key Opinion Leaders. Driving efforts to expand KE”s stakeholder universe to include a diversity of Key Opinion Leaders who can be leveraged as advocates for the company. Establish Marketing’s “Thought Leadership” initiative to insert KE’s narrative in academic and policymaking discourse. Responsible for managing and mitigating reputational risk for the company and elevate the quality and nature of KE’s communication efforts. Work with think-tanks to drive KE’s thought leadership efforts by preparing collaborative reports and case studies exploring the Power Sector. Under the thought leadership umbrella, organize webinars and create opportunities for communication through external/neutral platforms.
Education
Min. Bachelors
Knowledge
Understanding of power sector issues (desirable)
Communication and conflict resolution strategies

Strong research skills

Understanding of KE’s operating environment and accompanying challenges
Experience
at least 4 years of experience with stakeholder management or communication for a large company across business verticals. Prior experience in operations/project management could be a plus but not necessary. Should be flexible and a fast learner able to simultaneously handle multiple tasks.

- Understand the power sector landscape of Karachi and Pakistan to identify opportunities for stories and in-depth analytical articles
- Develop Press Releases, Op-Eds, Letters to Editor, Feature-length articles, interviews on behalf of CXOs
- Engage with Print/Electronic Media to ensure that KE’s narrative is identified and carried
- Engage with journalists to educate them on the challenges that KE is facing within its operational territory
- Liaising with internal and external departments to create a content strategy calendar that incorporates KE’s key messages and ensures consistency in all channels of communication.
- Work with internal departments such as Legal, Distribution, Generation, Transmission, and others to identify achievements which can be highlighted on external platforms
- Engage with Media and represent KE as a spokesperson
- Identify all channels through which KE narrative is being diffused and develop a cascading strategic communication plan to influence these channels
- Communicate KE’s operational challenges proactively to ensure alignment and common narrative of the company
- Identify opportunities for cooperation between KE and external stakeholders such as IAP, OICCI, and others to highlight company initiatives and extend the reach of company’s message
- Consolidate data from multiple internal stakeholders into concise presentations, policy briefs, press releases and articles to support company objectives and highlight a positive image.
- Engage with external stakeholders on issues with a wide-ranging impact (e.g. SSGC supply, MYT) and utilize their expertise and influence to elevate the company’s voice in public and private forums
- Represent KE on Industrial Forums, Business association meetings, and other external platforms.
- Work with independent think-tanks and organizations to drive research and analysis into the challenges facing the power sector and its impact on economy
- Proactively create awareness among stakeholder groups on the challenges of the power sector as a whole
- Organize webinars with Key Opinion Leaders on core organizational priority areas
- Seed information to support KE’s corporate and business narratives across digital, print, electronic, and hybrid media spaces
- Develop high-impact communication for leadership as and when required
- Assist MarComms in preparing bi-lingual communication material while maintaining tonality and ensuring consistent placement of key messages
- Assist in organizing of trainings to improve leadership’s ability to manage media
- Prepare and update a key message document which can be used for quick reference when engaging with external audiences
4 Crisis Communication 10
- Monitor information on ongoing and upcoming company projects and business activities to identify and mitigate any risks
- Proactively coordinate with corresponding internal department to develop a company stance that can be communicated to all external stakeholders
- Utilize existing communication channels to extend the reach of the company’s message and ensure that the organization has responses prepared against perceived stakeholder concerns and comments
- Ensure KE narrative is proactively communicated to print/electronic/social media, and key stakeholders during crisis scenario
