Job Purpose:
The Quality Control (QC) Manager is responsible for leading all quality-related functions within the organization, ensuring that raw materials, in-process goods, and final products meet internal standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role oversees quality inspections, testing procedures, audits, documentation, and resolution of customer complaints, while driving continuous improvement. The QC Manager also collaborates closely with R&D and Production departments to enhance product quality, efficiency, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of QC officers, lab technicians, and quality inspectors.
- Define departmental goals and key performance indicators (KPIs); track and report on quality metrics.
- Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, HACCP, and GLP.
- Oversee quality control of raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products using advanced instruments (e.g., WVTR, OTR, GC).
- Manage laboratory operations, including calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
- Ensure compliance with relevant food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, Halal, EU compliance).
- Investigate non-conformities, conduct root cause analysis, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with R&D and Production teams on product trials, cost-reduction initiatives, and sustainable packaging solutions.
- Train and develop QC staff; promote a culture of continuous improvement through practices like 5S and safety protocols.
- Prepare and present detailed quality performance reports to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- M.Phil / M.Sc. in Chemistry or Polymer Science
- MS in Total Quality Management (TQM) or Industrial Chemistry
Experience:
- 10–12 years of progressive QC/QA experience in flexible packaging, film manufacturing, inks/coatings, or adhesives industry
- Hands-on experience in formulation, testing, and quality systems implementation
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ASTM, ISO standards, and packaging quality protocols
- Technical expertise in ink, adhesive, and polymer film formulation and testing
- Proficiency in compliance documentation and managing customer audits
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for recipe tracking and QC record management
- Competence in MS Office, data analysis, and quality dashboard creation
Preferred Certifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt
- ISO 9001 / ISO 22000 Lead Auditor Training
- Training in WVTR/OTR testing and compliance certifications
- Certifications in Food Safety and Halal Compliance
