Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in Lahore or Islamabad. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server Database Administration, with additional expertise in Oracle database management. A strong focus on database performance, reporting services, Data Warehousing, and large-scale database migrations is essential. This role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance, integrity, and security of our database systems.

Job Description:

The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining SQL Server and Oracle databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security. Key responsibilities include configuring, monitoring, and optimizing SQL Server & Oracle database systems, along with implementing advanced backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies such as SQL Server Always On, Read Replicas, and DR site management. The role requires expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization for both environments, as well as designing and implementing Data Warehousing solutions and supporting reporting services (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) and developing ETL processes. Additionally, the DBA will lead large-scale database migration projects—both homogeneous (e.g., SQL Server to SQL Server) and heterogeneous (e.g., Oracle to SQL Server)—while managing database replication, high availability, and scalability solutions. A critical aspect of the role is ensuring data security, compliance, and seamless integration with development and operations teams to support business objectives and minimal downtime.

Experience:

The ideal candidate must possess 8-10 years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience, including installation, configuration, and maintenance, with expertise in high-availability solutions like SQL Server Always On, Read Replicas, and Log Shipping, along with comprehensive disaster recovery setups. Candidates should demonstrate strong capabilities in SQL Server business intelligence tools (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS), along with proven skills in database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization. Significant experience in large-scale database migrations, both homogeneous and heterogeneous, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have secondary expertise in Oracle Database administration (11g/12c/19c preferred), including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and performance tuning. General requirements include strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, automation skills, familiarity with cloud database solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud), and excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation capabilities.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL Server Database Administration (installation, configuration, maintenance)
  • Strong knowledge of reporting services (SSRS) and ETL tools (SSIS)
  • Expertise in Data Warehousing solutions, including dimensional modeling and OLAP (SSAS)
  • Database performance tuning and optimization (query plans, indexing, partitioning)
  • Advanced backup/recovery strategies (Always On, Log Shipping, DR site management)
  • Database replication techniques (transactional, merge, snapshot)
  • Large-scale database migration experience:
  • Homogeneous (SQL Server to SQL Server)
  • Heterogeneous (Oracle to SQL Server, cross-platform)
  • Oracle Database administration (11g/12c/19c) as secondary skill:
  • Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN
  • Performance tuning and migration to SQL Server (preferred)
  • Cloud database solutions (Azure SQL DB, AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud) – optional but a plus
  • High availability/scalability solutions (Read Replicas, clustering)
  • Data security and compliance standards (encryption, auditing, GDPR)
  • Automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or T-SQL)
  • Collaboration with development and operations teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education/Qualification:

  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in IT or Computer Science.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in IT or Computer Science.

Job Location:

  • Lahore or Islamabad.
