Senior DBA – MongoDB

Summary:

We seek an experienced Development DBA with expertise in MongoDB to support our product development and implementation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong database administration skills, performance tuning experience, and hands-on expertise in designing, implementing, and managing MongoDB databases in a high-availability environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain MongoDB databases for high-performance applications.
• Work closely with Product Development and Implementation teams to ensure database solutions align with business requirements.
• Optimize database performance, indexing, and query execution for large-scale applications.
• Develop and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery
• Monitor database health and ensure high availability, replication, and sharding as needed.
• Perform data modeling, schema design, and capacity planning to support product development.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD database deployments and automation.
• Ensure data security and compliance with best practices.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide technical guidance to development teams.
• Stay updated with the latest MongoDB features and best practices to enhance system performance.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) with at least 3 years in MongoDB.
• Strong experience in MongoDB schema design, indexing, aggregation, and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas, Replica Sets, and Sharding.
• Experience in MongoDB administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Shell scripting).
• Familiarity with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and database migration strategies.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and database automation tools.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery planning.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MongoDB Certification (e.g., MongoDB Certified DBA or Developer) is a plus.
• Experience in other NoSQL databases (Cassandra, Redis, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, or data streaming technologies is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or New Relic.
