Job Purpose

To lead, plan, and supervise the electrical / electronic maintenance activities within the plant by guiding a team of technicians to execute preventive/corrective maintenance activities and projects, ensuring all electrical systems operate efficiently and safely whilst adhering to plant procedures and protocols.

Principal Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise activities carried out by the Powerhouse Technician and E&I Technician, allocating tasks based on role expertise.
• Give the forecast of weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance cycles (Electrical / Electronics) and propose a budget for it during budget cycle for both Capex and Opex.
• Set clear deadlines for direct reports using tracking tools, assisting the team in prioritizing tasks based on urgency, importance, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Conduct regular team meetings and performance evaluations, encouraging team members to voice concerns or suggestions.
• Lead and mentor direct and indirect reports to drive efficiencies from E&I scope.
• Make their training need analysis and ensure sufficient training is provided that is related to their work.
• Provide potential improvements to maintenance processes based on team feedback.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Engineering Specialist to plan, prioritize, and execute electrical maintenance strategies.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all electrical systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
• Perform installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems, including Siemens, Mitsubishi PLCs, control valves, and field instruments to ensure optimal plant operations.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation issues in a timely manner to minimize production downtime and maintain equipment reliability.
• Interpret and implement technical drawings and electrical schematics, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and electrical standards.
• Develop and implement proactive maintenance protocols, such as predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
• Ensure the proper allocation and utilization of tools, equipment, and machinery required by the Electrical Technicians
• Review, approve, and ensure adherence to procedures from the documentation and records provided by the Maintenance Engineering Specialist, making sure the documentation is accessible to direct reports.
• Ensure the safety of personnel and the environment in the event of an electrical breakdown or failure, using diagnostic tools to identify the root cause of failure and engaging with direct reports for insights
• Create a detailed report outlining the nature of the breakdown, the identified cause, and the immediate actions taken, highlighting key findings
• Provide hands-on training for direct reports when introducing new equipment or procedures, and continuously assess the training needs of the team
• Uphold team safety protocols and conduct safety training sessions, educating the team on the latest safety protocols, proper use of tools, and the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Adhere to high standards of plant maintenance and ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental management systems
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in electrical work and operations to ensure NFL adopts best practices consistently
  
  

Background Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
