Senior Software Engineer, Trilogy (Remote) - $100,000/year USD

Software delivery remains trapped in outdated practices. The prevailing response continues to be adding more developers rather than fundamentally improving the system that transforms requirements into dependable, production-ready software.

Trilogy has chosen a fundamentally different approach. We operate an agentic development pipeline from start to finish: engineers own research, specification, architecture, and quality control, while AI agents execute implementation. Specifications are crafted to be directly executable by Claude Code, following test-first principles and carefully scoped to contain impact radius. The outcome is continuous deployment of production functionality with significantly faster feedback cycles, reduced integration surprises, and greater confidence in correctness before any code reaches the main branch.

This position is designed for engineers who want to architect systems and validate correctness rather than process tickets. You will allocate approximately 10–20% of your time to research and technical investigation—understanding current system behavior, constraints, and stakeholder requirements; 40–50% translating that knowledge into precise, test-driven, agent-executable specifications and architectural choices; and 40–50% directing and supervising implementation execution. You own accountability for shipped results: no silent errors, no vague specifications, no deflection to "the agent's output."

What You Will Be Doing

• Technical Discovery: Examining existing systems, stakeholder needs, and data environments to map the problem domain and identify technical boundaries
• Technical Specification: Translating research outcomes and stakeholder needs into precise, executable technical specifications tailored for agentic coding assistants (primarily Claude Code) following spec-driven development practices
• AI Implementation: Directing AI coding agents through implementation, continuously reviewing and validating agent-generated code, and merging verified changes into the production codebase

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
