Broad Responsibilities :

Assistant Engineer is liable to perform supervisory role and execution of maintenance activities pertaining to his jurisdiction. He organizes a team to achieve maintenance targets and objective set by sectional head. He shall ensure implementation of safety norms in real spirit.

Principle Responsibilities :

Administrative:

• Assist AM/DM/Manager in organization and administration of I&C maintenance section in line with instructions and directives of the management, rules, and regulations in practice to achieve targets and objectives.
• Maintain punctuality, discipline and confidence among the team members and ensure observance of the management rules.
  
  

Functional:

• Leading a team of subordinates, delegating work to them, and ensuring timely completion of the same as per defined objectives in coordination with respective AM/DM.
• Maintain all equipment and accessories (pertaining to his jurisdiction) in neat, clean, and serviceable condition. Carry out frequent surveys of his area, monitor physical and operational conditions of the equipment and immediately intimate AM/DM/Manager about any abnormality.
• Maintain all equipment and accessories duly certified and calibrated in the department.
• Carry out local repairing of the faulty equipment/cards from local market.
• Follow maintenance manuals, procedures, F&ID, schematic & control drawings for accomplishment of safe and quality workmanship. Carryout proper RCA to avoid rework and give recommendations for improvements.
• Carry out testing, calibration and overhauling of instruments and equipment, panel wiring, PLC hardware troubleshooting etc.
• Confidently use all testing and troubleshooting equipment and tools and keep them calibrated and in ready to use condition.
• Attending notifications and work orders on a daily basis. Properly mention the details of activity performed and cause of failure in the maintenance report and close the work orders.
• Daily reading the log reports/emails to find previous shifts’ status for completion and follow-up of ongoing jobs.
• Maintain daily log reports/ emails and maintenance record in readily presentable format.
• Keep close watch on consumables and spare parts related to his jobs and inform AM/DM/Manager in time for replenishment.
• Utilize SAP MM module for issuance of material from stock.
• Ensure cleanliness of all indoor and outdoor work areas and motivate the team for the same. Maintain housekeeping in the plant and participate in housekeeping walk.
• Extend support, guidance, and training to subordinates or newcomers for technical development.
• Ensure good two-way communication and higher confidence and trust level with all team members.
• Utilize SAP PM Module for recording all maintenance activities.
• Perform any task assigned by the plant management pertaining to the functions of the power plant.
  
  

Safety:

• Comply with all safety practices as per company directives, CHSEQ policy and procedures, HSE G&T procedures, PSM and audits (PSLA).
• Comply with all safety norms and regulations set by the company and e nsure implementation of standards for maximum safety of his team members.
• Ensure proper risk analysis and c arry out toolbox talk with team members before starting the work and maintain general safety, proper & neat uniforms, and appropriate PPE’s during working at plant & workshop.
• Ensure safety, quality of work, schedule control and maintain housekeeping during performance of maintenance activities.
• Properly and timely coordinate with other departments for safety and reduce equipment downtime.
• Participate in designated Safety Committee Meetings (D-Level Committee Meetings) as per frequency mentioned in KE-SP-004 SOP
• Participate in HSE related learning Trainings Min. 5 Days (40 Hours) / Year
• Perform management safety audits as per frequency mentioned in KE-SP-011 SOP
• Reporting of Hazards / Unsafe Acts / Unsafe Conditions / Near Miss Min. 12 / year (1 / Month).
  
  

Qualification/Experience :

• At least diploma holder in Electronics or Electrical with minimum 12-year experience of working or B. Tech with 8-year experience of working in I&C maintenance section of power plant/fertilizer/oil sector in capacity of Associate Engineer or equivalent.
• Should possess good theoretical knowledge of instruments, basic electronics and control equipment and must be familiar with use of testing, monitoring and calibration equipment and possess troubleshooting skills.
• Should be familiar with safety rules and regulations.
• Should understand, read, and write English language.
• Must have proficiency with Computer knowledge such as Microsoft Office.
