Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Quality Assurance to join its senior leadership team. The incumbent will lead the quality assurance department, develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that the initiatives within the organization meets the standard specifications for quality, function, and reliability in accordance with the defined quality standards. S/he will be responsible for Quality Management Policy and implementation of evidence-based ‘Best Practices’.
The Head of Quality Assurance will take forward while ensuring the quality of community/clinical programs of AKHS,P and will provide technical support for quality maintenance and advice the planning, development, monitoring and supportive supervision to the regions and cross-functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Management system in the AKHS,P based upon the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM).
- Progress from the current Quality Assurance (QA) level to the Quality Improvement (QI) and then to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) levels.
- To promote evidence-based decision making through the application of the PDCA methodology.
- To develop the culture of open and blame-free incident reporting.
- To develop quality management culture in the AKHS,P through regular internal quality audits.
- Ensure a consistent level of quality and patient safety 24/7/365.
- Facilitate the AKHS,P Facilities in maintaining the ISO Certification.
- Prepare the AKHS,P Facilities for the Level-5 Certification by SafeCare.
- Ensure that Quality of Care-related SOPs are up-to-date.
- Ensure compliance to the six International Patient Safety Goals.
- Liaise closely with team and frequently with the Pharmacy Department to ensure medication safety.
- Liaise with the doctors, nurses and administrators to ensure all aspects of patient safety are addressed and complied to.
- Inculcate the practice of ongoing organization-wide risk management.
- Through the use of risk assessment matrix, develop a system of risk analysis, scoring, grading and management.
- Produce a Organisation-Wide Risk Register according to the internationally recognized best-practice.
- Incorporate risk management into incident management to progress from reactive incident management to pro-active incident prevention.
- Evaluate quarterly patient satisfaction data and make suggestions for improvement.
- Carryout Three-monthly trend analysis of the regional Quality Assurance reports.
- Facilitate bi-annual Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
Experience, Skills and Competencies
- MBBS / MPH or MBA (Preferably in Health & Hospital Management).
- Diploma or certifications in Quality Assurance would be a plus point.
- Must have experience of at least 5 – 10 years of Hospital Quality Assurance or in community healthcare and clinical settings.
- Must be knowledgeable of latest practices of community programs, hospital setting, administration and management.
- Should be able to apply knowledge of theory into practice.
- Strong consensus building, interpersonal skills, backed by excellent people management, communication, negotiating and conflict management skills.
- A team player, strong networking skills, backed by excellent people management skills who can work with a very diverse and demanding stake holder i.e. Head of AKDN institutions.
- Analytical & Decision-making skills.
- Command in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) SPSS would be an added advantage
