The Role: Director Technology Shared Services
Location: Islamabad

S&P Global Market Intelligence team is a creative team of experts collaborating across divisions and driving continuous improvements in platform innovation and usability.
We are looking for a highly motivated Hands-on Senior Manager Cloud Engineering to join our Technology Shared Services org supporting API & middleware Messaging and Big Analytics platforms. The Platforms are hybrid and built across multiple regions, VPCs, network segmentations, and tenancies. This is an excellent hands-on leadership opportunity to join S&P Global as we continue transforming our infrastructure into hybrid and multi-cloud based, while also developing your skills and furthering your career as we plan to power the markets of the future. This role reports in to Head of Technology Shared Services. Strong people management and talent acquisition/retaining skills are crucial for this role to succeed. Teams are globally distributed from North America to EMEA and APAC.
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience of leading and managing DevOps teams and resources effectively across the globe.
Have an open mindset keeping Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) concept at the center.
Enjoy working with financial and non-financial data services and related technologies & design patterns. You will have a passion for educating, training, designing, and building cloud computing systems for a diverse and challenging set of customers and partners.
Have a strong understanding of large-scale cloud computing solutions including setting up and configuring Kafka based messaging platform, Container platform and Azure DevOps based CI/CD pipelines and AWS based Big Analytics platform.
Have excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
Have ability to present solution of complex problems to technical and non-technical audience.
Assist senior leadership with budgeting, forecast, hiring plans and regular capacity analysis.
Strong analytical skills of presenting to C-level executives and necessary building dashboards.
Have passion to learn new technologies and grow with team.
Tasks and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Lead and work together with various domestic and overseas teams across the organization to ensure that the Platforms are reliable, operational, performant, and meets business requirements as well as committed SLA.
Setup, configure and monitor platforms, pipelines, clusters and conduct routine maintenance work for smooth operation with guaranteed uptime.
Onboard applications to the platform as and when needed with higher priority.
Lead and assist various DEV and QA teams during their development and testing following the guidelines provided.
Work closely with senior leadership in day-to-day operation activities.
Conduct and/or assist in conducting regular capacity analysis and POCs.
Develop and maintain the platform automation tools, dashboard and utilities (Java and .NET C#, Terraform).
Being member of the team, contribute providing support for Production, DR and lower environments making sure platform is stable and highly available.
Provide leadership during 24x7 support.
What We're Looking For:
MS in Computer Science, Engineering or in equivalent discipline is required.
Minimum 12-15 years of relevant experience of leading teams and managing global resources.
Minimum 7-10 years of relevant work experience managing platform and/or infrastructure.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in any industry leading middleware messaging (AWS MSK, Kinesis, Apache Kafka, RedPanda or similar technology) platform with exposure to container technologies such as EKS, ECS, AKS, GKE, Openshift, etc. is required. Certification is a bonus.
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience of DevOps CI/CD Pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps.
Hands-on knowledge or experience of AWS. Certifications a bonus.
Strong experience on application deployment and monitoring. Experience with LaunchDarkly and DataDog or similar observability tools is preferable.
Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably Terraform;
Strong Experience managing/administrating and supporting production, enterprise-grade platforms preferably in the Kubernetes ecosystem;
Experience with API Gateways and ServiceMesh preferably the APIGee and Kong;
Experience with Kubernetes governance, preferably Open Policy Agent;
Experience with software development, preferably in Python, Bash, Go, Java, etc.;
Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix and Windows OS.
Excellent communication (written & verbal) and collaboration skills;
Detail-oriented and a good team player;
Willing to work providing support coverage for extended hours on rotation basis;
Willing to learn new technology and acquire new skills.
