Senior Backend Engineer (Java)

Job Description

• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code
  


• Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications
  


• Build scalable and reliable data systems consisting of multiple subsystems
  


• Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic
  


• Integrate with systems like Memcached, Redis, Kafka, S3 and others

Requirements

Must Have Attributes

• Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including algorithms and data structures
  


• Proficiency in Java with some experience in Java 8
  


• In-depth knowledge of any java web framework like Spring, Struts or JSF
  


• Familiarity with ORM (Object Relational Mapping) libraries like Hibernate or Spring Data
  


• Ability to convert high-level business requirements into smaller and manageable problems
  


• Experience with Git

Emumba started in 2011 as a product company with two flagship products: Cricout (a social network around Cricket), and PatientsWithPower (a healthcare platform for cancer patients and treatment hospitals). Both products, though technically successful, were a business failure. Emumba made a pivot to the software services business in 2015 and has never looked back since then.
