Save the Children Pakistan Country Office, in collaboration with the Cash Working Group in Pakistan, is undertaking preparations for a pre-crisis market analysis in districts prone to drought and floods. To accomplish this task, Save the Children Pakistan seeks the expertise of a consultant. The objective of the analysis is to evaluate the market systems in the flood and drought-prone districts of Sindh and Balochistan, identify vulnerabilities, and propose interventions to enhance food security and livelihoods in these regions. The consultant will primarily focus on analyzing the market systems for two or three critical commodities, both before and after experiencing shocks. The assignment will last for a duration of 20 days and will be led by the consultant, with support from Save the Children Pakistan's Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Advisor, as well as technical staff from other member organizations.
The consultant will be responsible for leading the pre-crisis market analysis, with the following objectives:
- Assess the existing market systems for the critical commodities in the flood and drought-prone districts of Sindh and Balochistan.
- Identify vulnerabilities and risks that affect food security and livelihoods in the target areas.
- Analyze the impact of past crises on market systems and identify potential challenges for future crises.
- Propose appropriate interventions and strategies to enhance food security and livelihood resilience in the target districts.
