Main Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting in the management of the overall litigation of the branch office including the following:

Criminal and quasi criminal matters;

Civil litigation excluding the land disputes which are handled by CD team.

Taxation matters related litigation;

Representation before courts, Tribunals and other judicial/quasi-judicial forums as Company representative.

Advisor to the company management for all contentious and non-contentious matters pertaining to all civil (contractual, commercial, financial, business development, and regulatory affairs) and criminal matters (including NAB, FIA, and Anti-corruption related matters) having legal risk and corporate exposure. The work includes drafting memoranda, contracts, agreements, and update of existing documents forming binding commitments of the company in line with group regulations and applicable laws.

Upon instruction, responsible for interpretation of legislation (existing and new) and recommending optimum legally compliant course of action to the company, periodically.

To coordinate/collate/discuss/agree with concerned teams within the Company on documents required for legal and contractual matters/disputes. Investigate, analyze information, and conduct reviews based on documents made available and advise appropriate course of action.

To assist and enable the Company management and Joint Venture Partners in decision-making process including interpretation of various policy matters, regulator’s directives, and license management issues.

Responsible to ensure contractual compliance with the laws and regulations of the Country (including notarization of corporate documents), the terms of governing Agreements as well as to ensure compliance with internal regulations. Signatory to the corporate governance processes for compliance purposes.

Regular liaison and management of external counsels including review of the work done and court management.

Responsible for developing, managing and supervising legal team and to enhance their professional capacities, assist in their personal development plans and to build their professional potential as member of one team.

Liaise with, and assist, the matrix / legal manager at HQ on any matters as instructed.

Act as a role model to set the example on all matters of Health, Safety, and Environment to improve HSE culture across the department.



Qualification:

Bachelors in Law / LLB or above



Professional competencies:

Membership of Bar Association, Understanding of legal principles and transactional work, team building.

Excellent communication, influencial and negotiation skills.



Experience:

Minimum 12 Years of experience in handling legal matters of the energy or allied industry.
