Application Support Engineer

About The Role

The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented IT professional with 1–2 years of experience in application support, technical troubleshooting, and incident management. This individual is passionate about ensuring the availability and performance of business-critical applications, possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and enjoys working in a collaborative, customer-focused environment. The role requires the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues while providing exceptional support to both technical and non-technical users.

Experience

Candidates should have 1–2 years of experience in Application Support, Technical Support, Production Support, or a similar role within an IT environment.

Hands-on experience supporting enterprise applications, troubleshooting technical issues, and working with databases, operating systems, and ticketing systems is essential. Exposure to application monitoring tools and automation scripting will be considered an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the health, availability, and performance of business applications.
• Handle multiple support tickets simultaneously while meeting defined service levels and ensuring timely resolution.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application, database, and system-related issues.
• Execute SQL queries to analyze, validate, and retrieve data from databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and other IT teams to identify root causes and implement permanent solutions.
• Support Windows and Linux environments by diagnosing system and application issues.
• Assist in troubleshooting APIs, system integrations, and application connectivity problems.
• Monitor application performance using logging and application performance monitoring (APM) tools.
• Document incidents, resolutions, and troubleshooting procedures in the knowledge base.
• Communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in SQL and database management, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar relational databases.
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple high-priority support tickets in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Shell scripting (Bash or PowerShell) for automation and operational tasks.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of REST APIs, application integrations, and web services.
• Experience with application performance monitoring (APM), logging, and IT ticketing systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and other cross-functional teams.

Education & Certification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
