Assistant Financial Controller

Job Purpose

You will support the Financial Controller in delivering accurate financial reporting, month-end close, and balance sheet control for GSK Pakistan. You will work closely with local business partners, shared services, tax and statutory providers, and regional finance teams. Responsibilities

• Lead and execute month-end close activities for assigned legal entities, including preparation and review of journals.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and high-risk account reviews, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of open items.
• Produce monthly financial packs and present results and insights to the Financial Controller and business stakeholders.
• Ensure accounting treatments follow IFRS and local statutory requirements and apply internal control standards consistently.
• Support statutory reporting, tax submissions and external audit requests by coordinating with external advisers and shared service teams.
• Drive process improvements and participate in local finance projects to increase efficiency and control.
  
  

Education, Experience And Skills

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting, audit, financial reporting or controlling.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS) and month-end close procedures.
• Experience preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and analytical reviews.
• Strong communication skills in English. Urdu or other local language skills are an advantage.
• Proficient in Excel and experience with ERP or financial reporting systems.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent) part-qualified or completed.
• Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems and with reporting tools (Power BI, Lumira or similar).
• Experience working in a multinational company or shared service environment.
• Proven experience supporting external audits and statutory reporting.
• Demonstrated process improvement experience and problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to present financial insight to senior stakeholders and influence decisions.
