Role Overview:

EC-Council is seeking an experienced Certification Assessment Team Lead to lead the creation, review, and maintenance of high-quality certification exam content across EC-Council's cybersecurity programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in information security concepts, assessment development methodologies, and scenario-based item writing This role is responsible for leading a team of item writers and reviewers, ensuring exam questions accurately measure candidates' knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and align with certification exam blueprints, learning objectives, and industry best practices
Key Responsibilities:

  • Item Development and Assessment Design
  • Develop high-quality scenario-based, case-study-based, and performance-oriented certification exam questions for cybersecurity programs.
  • Create exam items that effectively assess candidate knowledge, skills, and abilities across various cybersecurity domains.
  • Develop multiple-choice, multiple-response, matching, sequencing, and other item formats as required.
  • Ensure all exam items align with certification blueprints, job task analyses, learning objectives, and competency frameworks.
  • Create realistic cybersecurity scenarios reflecting current threats, technologies, tools, and operational environments.
  • Item Review and Quality Assurance
  • Review and validate exam questions developed by internal and external item writers.
  • Evaluate items for technical accuracy, relevance, clarity, fairness, cognitive level, and psychometric quality.
  • Verify that questions measure intended competencies and do not contain ambiguity, bias, or unintended clues.
  • Ensure adherence to EC-Council item-writing standards, editorial guidelines, and exam development processes.
  • Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of item developers and reviewers.
  • Assign item development tasks and monitor productivity, quality, and timelines.
  • Conduct item review workshops and calibration sessions to ensure consistency across reviewers.
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to item writers to improve content quality.
  • Work with the project team, subject matter experts, and use existing documentation to understand content needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in cybersecurity, technical content development, assessment development, certification exam development, or instructional design.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, technologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience developing or reviewing certification exam questions, assessments, or competency-based evaluations.
  • Excellent written communication, editing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into valid assessment items.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing scenario-based certification exams or high-stakes assessments.
  • Familiarity with psychometric principles and assessment development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Bloom's Taxonomy, competency-based assessment, and adult learning principles.
  • Knowledge of one or more cybersecurity domains, including:
  • Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing
  • Network Security
  • Cloud Security
  • Security Operations and Incident Response
  • Digital Forensics
  • Threat Intelligence
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
  • Secure Software Development
