Our client Optima Technology Zone Pvt Ltd is looking for a Lead IoT Edge Architect in Islamabad
Optima Technology Zone Pvt Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Senior IoT Engineer to lead the design and implementation of the edge layer that connects the companys platform to physical hardware on client sites. This includes devices such as controllers, readers, meters, lifts, and sensors from multiple vendors. In this role, you will establish a robust, secure, and maintainable integration framework from the ground up, ensuring seamless connectivity and reliable operation in live commercial environments. You will serve as the technical expert engaging directly with site owners, facility teams, and hardware vendors, delivering client-focused solutions that meet complex real-world requirements.
You will take full ownership of the end-to-end edge architecture, including gateways, protocol adapters, local device processing, buffering, and cloud synchronization. Designing a reusable, scalable device integration framework is critical to efficiently onboarding new hardware vendors without disrupting existing operations. You will also define and enforce security models for device identity, provisioning, authentication, and certificate lifecycle management, resiliently handling offline behavior, fail-safe mechanisms, and remote device management. This role requires hands-on expertise in industrial protocols, embedded software development, cloud IoT platforms, and real-time troubleshooting, all while clearly communicating technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders. Your work will directly influence the delivery and ongoing success of IoT solutions in demanding commercial settings.

- Establish and enforce robust device identity verification, provisioning procedures, mutual authentication, certificate management, and lifecycle policies across device fleets.
- Develop system behaviors to handle offline conditions, intermittent connectivity, fail-safe and fail-secure states, including watchdog timers, clock synchronization, and power loss recovery.
- Lead the design and deployment of over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics, and rollback capabilities to ensure safe and reliable device updates on live client sites without disruption.
- Integrate multiple hardware types such as access controllers, elevator systems, barrier gates, energy meters, and environmental sensors with vendor-specific protocols.
- Build and maintain low-latency and reliable telemetry pipelines from devices to cloud infrastructure, ensuring efficient command and control pathways for live site operation.
- Collaborate closely with hardware vendors, systems integrators, and installation teams throughout site surveys, commissioning, and handoff phases to ensure smooth deployment.
- Provide on-site troubleshooting expertise for diagnosing and resolving unexpected behaviors or faults in live deployments involving hardware, network, or software components.
- Conduct comprehensive site audits to assess existing hardware conditions, determine hardware retention or replacement needs, and forecast integration complexity.
- Estimate and scope integration efforts per client site, delivering accurate technical proposals and standing behind estimates during project execution.
- Serve as the technical authority and primary liaison for site owners, facility managers, consultants, and sales teams, translating complex technical plans into clear commercial recommendations.
- Offer ongoing technical advisory and support to client sites post-deployment to maintain optimal system performance and client satisfaction.
- Define engineering practices and standards for the IoT edge layer, including physical hardware testing, simulation strategies, staged rollout plans, continuous monitoring, and alerting mechanisms.
- Document integration best practices, hardware vendor specifics, and incident learnings to maintain institutional knowledge and accelerate onboarding of new engineers.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers joining the IoT team, fostering knowledge sharing, technical growth, and adherence to quality standards.
