Rig Electrician required on contract bases for 12 months
Matric (Preferred)
Qualification and Experience
Minimum 7 Years overall Field Experience at oil and gas drilling rig.
Minimum 5 years as rig electrician.
Responsibilities And Duties
The rig electrician installs and connects electrical equipment such as SCR/ VFD
House, MCC, generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, lighting systems,
drilling instrumentation, CCTV monitoring system and communication systems on the drilling rig.
Assists in disconnection, packaging and preparation of equipment for rig moves,
including re-connection at new locations.
Performs routine maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure that it is
functioning properly.
Assists the maintenance crew in conducting visual and where possible functional inspections of equipment both prior to use and at periodic intervals during rig operation and after rig moves and rig-up.
Ensures that lock-out and tag-out procedures are fully complied with at rig site and campsite.
Troubleshoots and repairs electrical faults as they arise.
Replace faulty electrical components such as relays, Switches and motors and
positions sensing devices.
Replace electric motors bearings and rewires motors.
Maintains records of all electrical work performed on the rig, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
2.10. Keeps track of inventory and orders replacement parts as needed.
2.11. Assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the SCR house and integrity of the electrical power and control equipment.
2.12. Supervises junior crew and assists in training new crew members in the trade.
2.13. Ensures that all electrical systems and equipment on the drilling rig meet safety regulations and standards. This includes ensuring that all electrical systems are properly grounded and that there are no electrical hazards that could put personnel or equipment at risk.
