Rig man / Floor man required on contract bases for 12 months
Qualification and Experience
Matric (Preferred)
Minimum 5 Years overall Field Experience at oil and gas drilling rig including work experience as a roustabout.
Responsibilities
A Floor man/rig man operates drilling equipment, such as the iron roughneck, rotary tongs, slips, elevators, floor winchers, drilling mud system, pumps, and motors. He may also be responsible for maintaining and repairing the equipment as needed.
2.2. Performs various drilling operations, including the handling of drill pipes, drilling mud, and other equipment. Assist with rigging and unrigging the drilling equipment and maintaining the drilling fluid levels.
2.3. Assists in laying casing into a well after it has been drilled and assists other members of the drilling crew whenever needed.
2.4. Operates special services equipment such as casing and tubing equipment.
2.5. Supports the drilling crew in their daily operations, including handling and moving equipment and supplies, maintaining the rig floor and cleaning up spills and debris.
2.6. Records drill string and tubular lengths.
2.7. Maintains correct drill string count during tripping operations.
2.8. Works as part of a team and to be familiar with duties and responsibilities regarding well control.
2.9. Gives a comprehensive handover regarding ongoing duties/operations to relieve at end of shifts and rotation leave.
2.10. Floor man is also responsible for “housekeeping” on the rig. (Cleaning drill floor, painting, or scrubbing around the rig.)
2.11. Responsible for adhering to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure that drilling operations are conducted safely.
2.12. Follows operating and reporting procedures.
2.13. Assists in the maintenance and repair of rig equipment, including pumps, motors, and drilling machinery.
2.14. Performs basic troubleshooting and assists with more complex repairs as needed.
2.15. Helps and guides the roustabout to learn the rig floor job as per driller instructions.
