Rig Mechanic required on contract bases for 12 months
Matric (Preferred)
Qualification and Experience
Minimum 7 Years overall Field Experience at oil and gas drilling rig.
Minimum 5 years as rig mechanic.
Responsibilities And Duties
2.1. The rig mechanic will install facility machinery and perform regular maintenance and repairs on drilling rig and camp equipment including engines, compressors, draw works, rotary table, mud pumps, hydraulic systems, solid control equipment, vehicles (crane, truck, forklift or other vehicles) and associated components to prevent downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
2.2. Assists in dismantling, packaging and preparation of mechanical equipment for rig moves, including re-assembly at new locations.
2.3. Assists with the planned maintenance program for rig and camp mechanical equipment and instrumentation.
2.4. In the event of equipment breakdown or malfunction, rig mechanics must diagnose the problem and make necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
2.5. Perform machine works with lathe, drill press, grinding and surfacing equipment.
2.6. Keeps accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs,
replacements, and preventative maintenance, to ensure compliance with regulations and facilitate future repairs.
2.7. Ensure that lock-out and tag-out procedures are fully complied with at rig site and camp site.
2.8. Maintains an adequate stock of spares/tools inventory on rig store.
2.9. Maintains and secures work tools.
2.10. Maintains the cleanliness of the Mechanic workshop, Mechanical workshop area and integrity of the mechanical control equipment.
2.11. Turns off and locks out equipment when not in use.
2.12. Supervises his junior crew and provides on the job training to new employees in the trade.
