Senior Advisor, Global WASH TU, LN

JOB SUMMARY: To support WASH activities during humanitarian and emergency response, gap filling, build capacity, provide technical support at the assigned platform to the field with the aim to strengthening the organization’s WASH capacity, and improve WASH program quality.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the International Medical Corps WASH team in assigned platform countries. Manage the platform level roving WASH members, and interns, and provide technical capacity building and training for the assigned country WASH teams in coordination with Senior WASH lead.
• Support and implement International Medical Corps assigned platform and country level WASH strategy, protocols, policies, and international best practices to adopt.
• Support the roll out of International Medical Corps WASH Minimum Standards and ensure they are coordinated and reviewed in a timely manner by the IMC Senior WASH lead.
• Support the direction and priority areas for WASH in assigned platform.
• Emergency preparedness and response Serve as the platform Technical Unit lead on WASH response, contingency planning and preparedness as directed by the Emergency Response Unit and for potential significant changes in the nature of the emergency and timely response.
• Actively engage with all relevant technical, operational and program development team members to identify and respond to opportunities for WASH activities in platform program areas and for new geographic areas.
• Review and approves platform WASH components of proposals in accordance with proposal review and signoff process.
• Provide guidance to WASH field staff and country teams at all stages of the program cycle (assessments, grant and proposal writing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation);
• Provide technical capacity building of the field through coaching and on-the-job training during field's visits and remotely; and
• Participate in relevant meetings at the national, international and policy levels in assigned areas of work to advance International Medical Corps' WASH objectives. This may include meetings with governmental donor agencies, various UN Agencies, the National WASH Cluster, as well as conferences and meetings of health and WASH organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Typically, a Bachelor's degree in water sanitation engineering or related field.
• Professional experience of managing and capacity building WASH staff.
• Significant field experience in managing water, sanitation, and hygiene program in complex. Humanitarian settings including in emergency responses.
• The ability to effectively analyze complex problems and suggest solution that would have positive impact on the organization needs.
• Strong written and oral communications skills including the ability to write technical documents and present to colleagues.
• Proven experience in capacity building.
• Commitment to be deployed at very short notice to respond to humanitarian emergencies and fill gaps in the field (up at least 50%).
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
