Senior Backend Developer (Javascript and Node.js)

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer with at least 8 years of experience who thrives on solving complex engineering problems and can independently design, build, and own backend systems from architecture through production. You'll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable solutions, while writing clean, maintainable code and using AI tools effectively to improve productivity without compromising quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, architect, and implement complex backend features and distributed services using Node.js.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Own technical design from requirements through implementation, making sound architectural decisions and balancing trade-offs between scalability, performance, maintainability, and delivery speed.
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, indexing strategies, and data models across relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Ensure backend systems are resilient, observable, and production-ready through proper logging, monitoring, testing, and error handling.
• Implement authentication, authorization, audit logging, and security best practices aligned with industry standards (e.g., HIPAA/GDPR where applicable).
• Write clean, modular, well-documented, and handoff-ready code that is easy for other engineers to understand and extend.
• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor) to accelerate development while critically reviewing, validating, optimizing, and taking full ownership of all generated code.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to break down complex requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Review code, establish engineering best practices, mentor team members, and contribute to improving overall engineering quality.
• Contribute to frontend development in React when required, though the primary focus is backend engineering.
