About Modex

Modex is a 7-person, profitable B2B SaaS company providing mortgage market intelligence and data-driven recruiting tools to the US mortgage industry.

What We're Looking For

We are looking to start with one mid-to-senior full-stack engineer, with the potential to grow the team over time if the engagement is successful. The ideal candidate is backend-leaning but comfortable playing the full stack, and has the potential to grow into a team lead role managing additional offshore hires down the road.

Tech Stack

• Backend: Laravel/PHP, PostgreSQL + TimescaleDB, Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
• Frontend: Vue 2 + Inertia.js, Tailwind CSS
• Infrastructure: AWS (US West 2 — EC2), Cloudflare, Git
• Project Management: Linear (issues/ticketing), GitHub (source control)
• Other: PostGIS
  
  

Experience & Skills Required

• 3+ years for mid-level, 5+ for senior
• Strong backend skills required; frontend a plus
• Must be autonomous — able to take a design spec, understand the codebase, and
  
  

deliver without constant hand-holding

• Must understand performance implications, not just feature delivery (e.g. working with large analytical datasets, query optimization)
• Remote work discipline essential
• Solid English communication required
• PST time zone alignment preferred

The hire will integrate directly into our team via Slack, Zoom, etc., reporting to VP Engineering.
