Agriculture Affairs and License to Operate Lead

The role’s primary objective is to coordinate existing and emerging LTOs issues in the country
and secure freedom to operate in the core businesses for Crop Science in Pakistan. It will include key accountability for managing the relationships established with Pakistan regulators and policy makers on agriculture topics and related to food securing, climate adaptation and innovation.
The second objective is coordinating and promoting the country’s enabling policies on biotech. The focus will begin with LTO support for biotech corn in Pakistan and develop to include other emerging countries in East Asia Pakistan.
YOUR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Deliverables:
- Steer and coordinate legislative efforts by working with governmental and national authorities in Pakistan towards a favorable political and regulatory environment for the agricultural industry and Bayer.
- Influence the development of new legislations about corn seeds and traits (biotech) business, by creating policy proposals and working with government agencies and national authorities in the region, starting with Pakistan.
- Shape the sustainability narrative and foster closer dialogue with relevant to governments on supporting smallholder farmers’ productivity, livelihoods and the contribution of agriculture to drive national food security interest.
- Provide strategic analysis of trends and expedite management of emerging issues of strategic importance to the company.
- Manage constructive dialogue with relevant stakeholders, including NGOs on legislative trends and topics related to Bayer’s biotech and agrichemical business.
Collaboration with the organization:
- Work with Global and Country PAS&S and cross functions to set strategy, and priorities on relevant Public & Government Affairs issues/topics.
- Develop the stakeholder network necessary to fulfil the Industry Affairs strategy (create stakeholder mapping, analysis, and engagement plans) and at the same time, develop, leverage and maintain high-level relationships with key policymakers, government officials and influencers.
- Work together with cross-functions in project teams and build support/advocacy for business success.
- Monitor, analyse and communicate policy developments and emerging issues impacting Bayer Crop Science and be accountable for influencing such policies/regulations.
- Develop positive, proactive articles to promote Bayer Crop Science messages across target groups (media, political, NGOs) and strengthen Bayer presence. Provide subject matter and media expertise and advice to Pakistan Leadership Team on strategy, tactics and advocacy.
- Coordinate country interest in relevant industry platforms, including Crop Life Pakistan.
- Work with relevant business functions to deliver on business growth and encourage innovation of the agriculture sector.
WHO YOU ARE:
- University degree
- 5 - 10 years of stakeholder management and advocacy experience; preferably in the agriculture industry.
- Sound understanding of Bayer’s business and environment.
- Solid knowledge of human / environmental safety requirements.
- Strong project management and communication skills.
- Strategic mind-set and ability to manage ambiguity.
- Open mind-set for driving change and transforming processes.
