Assistant Manager Plant Cost Accounting

Job Purpose

To carry out cost accounting tasks which includes but may not be limited to budget preparations, tracking and monitoring plant production costs and ensuring the timely provision data driven cost insights to support management decisions.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for the plant using the required tools and templates
• Collate and consolidate budget forecasts from different departments within the plant ensuring data accuracy and coordinating with the management team for any clarifications
• Analyse plant-level costing, conduct detailed variance and efficiency analysis and work with production teams to interpret findings
• Monitor plant performance against budgets, draft monthly financial reports focusing on specific areas such as cost tracking, wastage and efficiency metrics
• Track and report on plant inventory levels, oversee daily recording of raw materials, handle weekly reconciliations, and support timely investment write-offs
• Review vendor contracts from a financial perspective, ensuring that costs mentioned are in line with negotiated terms and identify any hidden clauses that can lead to additional costs
• Conduct monthly assessments of labour statistics within the plant, including headcount, overtime, and efficiency metrics, and analyse purchase trends, focusing on vendor evaluations to detect anomalies and potential risks
• Support the plant's insurance and management of claims and liaise with relevant departments to collate necessary financial data and ensuring accurate claim documentation.
• Make provision entries related to plant operations accounting for anticipated expenses to maintain financial compliance and stability
• Provide the necessary support needed to facilitate external audits ensuring auditors receive the necessary financial data and documents in a timely manner
• Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders within the plant, ensuring timely and efficient financial support
• Keep abreast with the latest developments in cost accounting methods to ensure NFL maintains a best practice approach at all times
  
  

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with 3-5 years of experience
  
  

Or

• Postgraduate degree in relevant discipline with 1-2 years of experience
