Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to help manage relationships with B2B accounts, including businesses, schools, universities and governmental organisations to deliver customer success. This includes working with Delivery and Sales teams to help manage the customer’s experience of the product or solution and ensure they achieve their goals.

Main Accountabilities

We are seeking a motivated and client-focused Business Development Officer to join our team. In this role, you will support the delivery of our services and products by registering and onboarding new B2B clients and ensuring their smooth integration into both internal and customer-facing systems. You will help partners get the most out of our collaboration by training key stakeholders to use our products, systems and resources confidently and effectively. Working closely with delivery and operations teams, you will contribute to setting and upholding quality standards, managing enquiries, resolving issues and overseeing changes to service delivery. You will also handle inbound service requests and customer support cases through CRM, ensuring timely resolution and keeping Sales, Delivery and Operations colleagues informed of any concerns raised by clients.

You will play a key role in analysis and reporting by providing clients with clear and useful data on delivery, engagement, progress and outcomes. Maintaining accurate client information in CRM and other business systems will be essential, helping to build valuable insight into our audience and the effectiveness of our sales and marketing activities. You will run monitoring and evaluation processes, present results to clients and colleagues, and work closely with Sales and Account Managers to ensure accurate data sharing and identify opportunities for repeat or new business. By reviewing available data, you will help identify performance improvement opportunities and support reporting across onboarding, delivery and account management.

The role includes supporting business development through research that identifies new opportunities and by proactively seeking ways to add value to existing B2B customer relationships. Through the use of British Council products, services and resources, you will strengthen client engagement and uncover potential new or repeat business. You will listen to client needs regarding future cohorts and courses and assist Account Managers in delivering annual key account plans.

You will also contribute to financial and resource management by ensuring invoices are issued accurately and on time, maintaining our supplier profile on client systems and supporting corporate payment processes. Monitoring debt as part of the local debt control team and managing legal documentation and contract records will also form part of your responsibilities. The role requires the ability to coordinate colleagues or external partners to complete tasks within agreed procedures and timelines while maintaining a high standard of quality. You will manage your own workload effectively and monitor task completion to ensure smooth service delivery.

To succeed in this role, you should have experience in B2B sales, particularly within the education and government sectors, and a background or understanding of English Language Teaching and/or Assessment. Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems is also essential, enabling you to manage client data and support relationships with accuracy and confidence.
