Job Purpose

Strategic owner of AMI Operations, Maintenance, Upkeep and Quality Control of all AMI components including HES, MDMS and Smart Meters. Set directions for teams for ensuring smart meters configuration, installation, and QC audits as per the standard policies and defined TATs through KPIs monitoring. Ensure smooth and uninterrupted data transfer from all devices till MDMS for subsequent billing and data analytics. Ensuring remote and on-field operational support for existing smart meters and AMI projects. SME for upgradations and resource enhancement of HES and MDMS. Lead technical assessment and standards development for introduction of new HES, Smart Meters and other components. Ensure availability of required resources, skill-set, and expertise via developing capability building plans for AMI O&M, MDMS and HES teams with the objective to manage AMI assets’ Operational and Quality Frameworks for company-wide smart meters coverage, and maintenance with objective of aligning departmental objectives with organization’s strategic objectives within the limits of organizational policies and SOPs, departmental objectives and directions/guidelines from supervisor.

Responsibilities

AMI Core Systems

  • Custodian of overall AMI core systems (HES, MDMS, Comms) and their end to end integration. The responsibilities include the following:
  • Accountable for smooth and uninterrupted data transfer from all devices till MDMS for subsequent billing, energy accounting and data analytics.
  • Head technical assessment and standards development for introduction of new HES, Smart Meters, Telcos and other components.
  • Strategize management and administration of AMI core systems for minimal down time ensuring business continuity
  • Chalk out Road map for HES/MDMS/Comms upgradation, capacity enhancement and their integration for ensuring smooth operability
  • SME for strategic integration plans across multiple AMI core systems.
  • Ensure resilient systems

Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

Ensure Proper And Timely Operations And Maintenance For Smart Meters Is And Their Compliance Carried Out As Per Organizational SOPs. This Includes The Following

  • Backlog config and comm trouble shooting close to zero
  • Direct remote and on-field operational support for existing smart meters and AMI projects.
  • Optimize and Augment AMI operational processes through de-bottlenecking strategies
  • Strategize High Level plan for achievement of smart meters Coverage, ComissioningCommissioning, Communication, Auto billing, discrepaencies and Quality Benchmarks
  • Ensure team wise compliance of safety policies and procedures.
  • Owner for conditional asset monitoring of smart meters through product health monitoring dashboards

Technological SME

Technological SME for core systems infrastructure and upkeep to enable auto billing and data analytics. This includes:

  • Owner of all technical documents pertinent to AMI systems and operations, their subsequent maintenance and up-keep
  • Technical SME for all kind of Proof of Concepts (POCs), Technological Advancements and System Upgradations
  • Lead for Product Specifications, Configuration and pre and Post Installation Quality Protocols of AMI core systems and their components.
  • Oversee all technical analysis against product failure, network metering parameters, and field discrepancies issues of smart meters

Resources Management

Building high performance teams by coaching and mentoring, resolving conflicts, developing their strengths, and improving their opportunities areas. This includes:

  • Ensure resource redundancies within teams for smooth operability
  • Responsible for comprehensive learning plan of the team, contribute in performance management of direct reports through employee’s engagement activities
  • Contribute in the strategy for departmental succession planning for identification of critical work positions and their actions plans
  • Fostering a cohesive, creative, and comfortable working environment, mediating any interpersonal issues within the team

Education & Relevant Experience

  • BS Engineering (Electrical/Electronics)
  • 7-9 years’ experience

Knowledge

  • Expertise in electrical power systems
  • Sound knowledge of AMI systems
  • Proficient in operational management
