GIS Associate

Job Summary:

We are looking for a GIS Professional with one year of working experience to join our GIS team. The ideal candidate will be a Fresh GIS graduate.

Job Responsibilities:

The GIS Associate will be responsible for managing spatial datasets, integrating field-verified (ground truth) data, and ensuring high-quality geospatial information. The role includes correcting existing spatial data based on inputs from field teams, maintaining metadata, and supporting map production and spatial analysis activities as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Management:Organize, store, and maintain geospatial datasets in line with internal data management protocols.
• Ensure spatial and tabular data integrity, accuracy, and consistency.
• Update existing datasets based on verified field data and other authoritative sources.
• Ground Truthing Integration:Receive, review, and interpret field-verified (ground truth) data.
• Correct geometries, attributes, and metadata based on field reports and GPS inputs.
• Document all edits and corrections for transparency and audit trail purposes.
• Quality Control & Assurance:Perform regular quality checks on datasets for completeness, projection accuracy, and logical consistency.
• Flag and resolve data conflicts or anomalies in coordination with the field and GIS teams.
• Support & Collaboration:Collaborate with field teams to clarify and verify submitted corrections.
• Provide GIS support to other departments or projects as needed (e.g., map production, data exports, basic analysis).
• Assist in preparing documentation, SOPs, and training materials related to GIS data handling.
• Technical Tools & Environment:Utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other platforms.
• Work with GPS data formats, mobile data collection tools (e.g., Collector, Survey123), and databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ArcSDE).
• Reporting:Maintain records of updates and correction logs.
• Generate periodic reports on data quality status, outstanding corrections, and dataset completeness.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in QGIS/ArcGIS

Experience:

• Minimum: 0 to 1 year of experience
• Preferred: 1 plus year of experience

Education/Qualification:

• Minimum: Graduation in any relevant field
• Preferred: Graduation in GIS
