PURPOSE

This is an overarching role who drives and operationally manages the Social and Environmental projects for K-Electric. The role will be central to managing key social and environmental stakeholders including welfare sector, KOL’s, academia and environmental bodies. Managing relationships with key grant-based and lender organisation is also key to this role.

The position is a central point for all ESG related work, and is responsible for collecting, coordinating, guiding, and recording information from all departments that impact ESG metrics. The position ensures that the company pursues opportunities in ESG, monitors and captures what is currently being done, and showcases the same on a local and global level. Relationship management with all key internal and external stakeholders within the system is critical.

The position supports and works where needed in collaboration Marcoms, distribution, HR, generation, transmission and CHSEQ

Minimum Requirements

Education & Relevant Experience: 6 to 8 years minimum work experience in communications, CSR, environment related project management, corporate reporting and marketing. Master’s degree in sustainable development, environment or Environmental management or other relevant field

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1 Sustainability reporting

  • Identify, select, and coordinate with consultant for support on developing report in accordance with international standards.
  • Research on global sustainability reporting trends, develop content flow for report, and coordinate with design agency to ensure the report is dynamic and aligned.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional team and consultant for data collection, closing gaps, and finalizing content.
  • Conduct content writing for report in coordination with consultant and internal teams.
  • Ensure report meets international standards, best practices, and award criteria.
  • Ensure website and other external communication is organized and updated.

2 Environment and sustainability initiatives

  • Identify and support in internal opportunities to improve company’s environmental sustainability. Seek opportunities for showcasing success stories and sharing best practices.
  • Identify and lead externally focused initiatives on environment and sustainability, in collaboration with high profile partners where relevant. Coordinate with internal teams for successful project delivery. Ensure initiatives are communicated both internally and externally.
  • Provide support during phase 1 in KHI Awards.

3 Project-based initiatives in collaboration with internal teams

  • Lead and support where needed environment, sustainability, and social upliftment oriented projects in collaboration with internal teams including but not limited to generation, transmission, distribution, and strategy.

4 Other ESG projects

  • Lead and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure company abides by environmental policy.
  • Identify opportunities for improving and recording sustainability projects within the company.
  • Highlight company’s ESG approach and success stories through collaboration with stakeholders including the regulator, think-tanks etc.

5 People management

  • Manage and mentor direct and indirect reports.
  • Ensure reports are on track on their goals and have the support needed to excel.
