Purpose

This position manages and controls the execution and closure of assigned project scope of work at new or existing KE grid stations. The person is also responsible for effectively managing the team and ensure all project activities are being carried out in a swift manner and report issues/problems to the management for timely resolution without any effect to the project timelines. The position also requires coordination with all project stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure implementation of project contract and technical specifications in its true spirit and essence. These activities are carried out with the objective to smartly manage the day-to-day requirements, technical and managerial development of direct reports and securing of the company’s interests within the limits of company’s HSEQ SOPs and timelines of the project as devised by the management.

Education

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BE/BS)

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of best engineering practices from past experience in different national / multinational contractors and consultants at local and overseas responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of complete Grid electrical Equipment Design and ETC (Errection, Testing and Commissioning) activities at Grid system including operational understanding of testing equipments.
  • Knowledge and experience of Project Management.
  • Hands on experience of MS Office, MS Project.

Experience

Field related relevant experience of at-least 08 years.

Area Of Responsibilities

Design Review (30%)

  • Coordination with user departments for their valuable input for finalization of design.
  • Coordination with PID SCADA, Telecom and civil team for their inputs as required.
  • Coordination with owner’s engineer/consultant for their comments on the respective design document.
  • Follow-up meetings with all stakeholders for design approval and closure.
  • Compilation of design review comments and ensuring timely release of documents.
  • Data management of all approved design relating to grid system’s primary and secondary equipment.
  • Coordination for data collection for existing systems/stations.
  • Input and support to Civil during design finalization meeting for initial layout finalization.

Civil Construction Phase (10%)

  • Site meetings with Civil team for onsite decision making along with contractor and consultants.
  • Site inspections and comments for electrical portion (Sleeves, electrical conduits, and embedded plates) during civil construction phase.
  • Coordination with Contractor execution and civil team for timely construction of buildings and civil foundations aligned with equipment delivery.
  • HSEQ Policy Implementation & pursuance.

Area of Responsibility Continued

ETC (Erection, Testing, and Commissioning) (40%)

  • Coordination with contractor for enlisting of equipment with their delivery dates to ensure timely delivery of equipment at site.
  • Site inspections of execution in progress.
  • Direct site supervision (in-case of unavailability of direct report).
  • Progress review and reporting, risk identification and mitigation plan.
  • Analysis of equipment installation based on OEM guide lines.
  • Site stakeholder(s) correspondence and management.
  • Factory (FAT) and site inspections (SAT) of equipment being delivered for the project.

Punch lists and Closeout (15%)

  • Preparation of punch-list after completion of site execution activities.
  • Preparation of material reconciliation list based on BoQ.
  • Feedback to Business Finance team regarding release of funds after job completion.
  • Handover of project related spares and end documentation to relevant user departments.
  • Demobilization of contractor and its sub-con and handover of completed works to system owners.
  • Follow-up with contractor during the project warranty period for rectification of faults.
  • Fixed asset tagging and clarification of measureable BoQ items to Business Finance.
  • Feedback to planning and development team regarding lessons learnt and areas of improvement.

People Management (5%)

  • Guidance of direct report/junior staff on company’s norms, culture and requirements.
  • Technical development of direct reports during design and execution stages of the project.
  • Ensuring the optimal utilization of the team ensuring team member’s work / life balance lifestyle.
  • Ensuring open dialogs between reporting manager and direct reports and learn from new experiences.
  • Lead by example to motivate and guide direct reports for timely achievement of target deadlines.
