The Position

The Medical and Scientific Affairs (MSA) Manager is responsible for providing scientific and medical leadership to support the organization’s strategic and operational goals. This role involves managing, developing Medical and Scientific strategy, medical education materials, engaging with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and ensuring that all medical and scientific activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Medical Strategy & Leadership

  • Conceptualize, prepare and implement the medical strategy in key diagnostic areas of interest, in alignment with business strategy
  • Provide expert medical and scientific guidance to support sales, CVM, Access, marketing strategies, and post-marketing activities
  • Liaise with the Global / Regional Medical Team to deliver key insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, regulatory, marketing, and sales to align on medical strategies and product messaging

KOL/HCP engagement

  • Effective engagement with key opinion leaders and other health care providers by addressing their unsolicited clinical queries, by extending medical expertise for various scientific activities, in identifying the unmet medical need/knowledge gaps
  • Identify and select HCPs for internal symposia as a part of non-promotional speaker management program and determine scientific activities of HCPs in return for medical education to spread the clinical and scientific message to larger audience
  • Engagement for on label and off label discussions, non-promotional speaker management on medical content (clinical, off label, pipeline)
  • Set up and host scientific advisory boards to collect input on disease areas, treatment, algorithms, clinical data, and clinical research protocol design and audience educational needs
  • Coordinate with commercial team in identifying, mapping and profiling KOLs focused on medical and clinical expertise

Medical Education and Trainings

  • Develop and deliver medical education programs and materials for internal teams, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders
  • Identify unmet clinical/medical training need of commercial teams and device a need specific clinical training program to enable team for evidenced based clinical conversation
  • Support team in regional or national level meetings, conferences, and symposia by managing scientific sessions and providing exhibit booth support
  • Provide educational medical content for sales and marketing activities including new product launch, CMEs or round table meetings

Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Provide medical and scientific input throughout the product lifecycle, from development to post-marketing surveillance
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop strategies for product positioning and messaging

Scientific Publications, Clinical Studies and grants

  • Manage scientific publications by extending support to HCPs for abstract or manuscript preparation
  • Pre-approval and post-approval Roche sponsored clinical studies, conducting Health Economics Related Studies pre/post approval, overseeing and tracking of Roche supported investigator initiated studies (IIS)
  • Ensure accurate and ethical communication of clinical data and product information to both internal and external audiences
  • Provide and manage grants/funding for independent education programs (pipeline, potential product new intended uses, etc), for scientific research, for patient association support, or for sponsoring medical societies

Media communication/interaction

  • Provide medical content and extend medical expertise for value-added customer outreach programs through media communication
  • Extend support in identifying KOLs for various media campaign
  • Reviewing and approving medical contents prepared to answer media questions

Medical Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure that all medical and scientific activities are in compliance with local and international regulatory standards and guidelines
  • Review and approve promotional marketing materials as a part of medical compliance activities
  • Medical support for scientific presentation or clinical queries received from drug regulatory authorities

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between the company and external medical and scientific communities
  • Collaborate with market access teams to support health economics and research initiatives
  • Establish a connect with Government bodies and pharmaceutical industry

Cross-functional Team Management

Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment focused on continuous improvement and excellence in medical and scientific affairs.

Who You Are
  • Advanced degree (MBBS, MD, PhD, Pharma D, etc.) in a relevant medical or scientific field is necessary and master’s degree in business would be an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or a related field within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Relevant certifications in clinical research, regulatory affairs and/or medical writing are a plus
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to lead or actively participate on local and/or international teams
  • Proven record of accomplishment of developing and maintaining relationships with KOLs and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate with health care professionals on a peer to peer basis
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical and computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
  • Strong project management and organisational & planning skills
