Job Title: Moodle Developer
Job Description:
As a Moodle Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining e-learning solutions using the Moodle learning management system (LMS). You will collaborate with instructional designers, content developers, and educators to create engaging and effective online learning environments for educational institutions, corporate training programs, or other organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop custom Moodle themes and plugins to enhance the user experience and meet specific client requirements.
2. Customize and configure Moodle core functionality, including course management, user management, authentication methods, and reporting features.
3. Integrate third-party tools and services with Moodle, such as video conferencing systems, assessment tools, and content repositories.
4. Collaborate with instructional designers and subject matter experts to implement instructional strategies and design interactive course content.
5. Troubleshoot technical issues and debug errors and perform system maintenance tasks to ensure the stability and performance of the Moodle platform.
6. Conduct regular system upgrades and updates to ensure compatibility with the latest Moodle releases and security patches.
7. Provide technical support and training to faculty, staff, and end-users on using Moodle effectively for teaching and learning purposes.
8. Develop and maintain documentation, including user guides, technical specifications, and Moodle development and administration best practices.
9. Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in e-learning, instructional design, and educational technology to improve Moodle-based solutions continuously.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, quality assurance testers, and system administrators, to deliver high-quality Moodle projects on time and within budget.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience developing and customizing Moodle-based solutions, including themes, plugins, and integrations.
3. Strong proficiency in PHP programming language and web development technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL.
4. Experience working with open-source LMS platforms, preferably Moodle, and understanding its architecture and APIs.
5. Familiarity with e-learning standards and specifications, such as SCORM, LTI, and xAPI.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
7. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
8. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and user experience.
9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
10. Knowledge of best practices in OSHA and HR Learning initiatives is a plus.
