Job Purpose

To implement, monitor and maintain the “Fly Jinnah Safety Management System” in the respective areas of operation. He/she shall manage all facets of Company’s SMS including Safety Risk Management, assist Flight Data Monitoring, Conduct of Safety Audits, Inspection & surveillance activities, Conduct of Safety Trainings, follow up on corrective measures, mandatory & voluntary “Safety Reports” ensuring the investigations and closure reports, are timely and accurately executed in line with the Pakistan Civil Aviation regulations / requirements and as per Fly Jinnah policies / procedures.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Ensure Safety Risk Assessment and coordinates with respective Departments for Safety Risk Mitigations. Prepare and maintain Airline Risk Register for all the hazards reported and assessed.
  • Identifies root causes of all safety reports, assists in formulating and monitoring the adherence to comprehensive corrective actions for regulatory audits; record findings and corrective actions in system for verification & follow up.
  • Conduct Safety Audits & Inspections of all applicable domains in liaison with QA. Prepare Audit checklists, Audit reports and ensure follow up and timely closures of all findings. Reviews regulatory requirements periodically and ensures comprehensive audit and conformance reports are produced and communicated to regulatory bodies in due time; highlights areas of concern where urgent attention and improvement are needed.
  • Assist Manager Safety in implementation of Flight Data Analysis Program in line with Regulatory requirements and FJL procedures. Participates in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports related to FDM.
  • Assists the Line Manager in formulating, enhancing and monitoring the adherence to SMS, procedures, processes to stay abreast with the changing needs and requirements of the Company.
  • Coordinates the Regulatory Authority’s mandatory occurrence reporting scheme in line with PCAA Regulations and Airline’s policies, procedures, and safety measures.
  • Supports the “Manager Safety” in promoting and enforcing “Safety” and “Operational Risk” awareness culture across the Company, Service Providers, and other organizations required to deal with emergencies.

Key Result Responsibilities - Continued

  • Perform initial investigation of all safety related incidents and brief Safety Manager. Effectively follows up on incidents and findings in liaison with the department heads/managers.
  • Presents and disseminates information on findings to promote safety awareness, recommends and follows up on the implementation of corrective measures to ensure the findings are closed and recorded. Disseminates flight safety information and promotes the exchange of such information.
  • Assist Safety Manager in terms of Safety Assurance covering the Safety Performance Monitoring & Measurement and Management of Change. Updates and follows-up on trends of safety performance indicators related to Flight Data monitoring. Collect and perform Safety data analysis to identify trends and prepare Reports for Management.
  • Actively participates in establishing, updating, and publishing safety manuals, policies, and procedures in accordance with Regulatory / Statutory requirements. Keeps abreast of current occupational legislation and requirements to ensure the workplace compliance.
  • Assists the Safety Manager in the administrative requirements for Safety Review Board and Safety Actions Group Meetings.
  • Actively participates in promoting safety awareness across the company through safety Bulletins / Alerts, trainings, briefings, workshops etc.

Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)

  • Bachelor’s degree equivalent from a recognized university or institute; Diploma or certificate in the related field combined with needed experience and exposure is acceptable
  • Must have completed Basic Safety related Trainings such as SMS, HF etc
  • Advanced Trainings like Audit / QA & “Aircraft Accident Investigation”, CRM, are desirable
  • Professional membership with associations related to the Aviation/Airlines industry is a plus.
  • Skilled report writing is required to ensure that complex reports are properly and clearly described.
  • Good command over written and verbal communication skills, report writing & presentations etc.
  • Possesses effective problem solving & decision-making skills
  • Proven Skills in analyzing data.

Work Experience

  • 5 years of experience in Airline / Aviation Industry; Minimum of 3 years in Safety Department in similar role.
  • Experienced in Safety Risk Management Function and Flight Data Analysis Program oversight function.
  • Experienced in monitoring performance against safety policies, procedures & operating manuals as per good business needs and in line with adopted regulations and approved standards
  • Working experience and exposure to QA Audit practices and their effect on safety measures & standards.
  • Experience in conduct of Audits / Inspections, preparation of Audit Check List and Audit Reports
  • Good knowledge & exposure to PCAA Regulations, ICAO Publications, Airline Flight / Ground Operations, & Engineering / Maintenance functions especially SMS related Regulations and Airline Documentation system
  • Capable of delivering safety related trainings / briefings to operational staff.
